speaking of prizes...what is it? i know i can write way better than any of you shlubs could, even though i might not be able to build a guitar better, so now i'm really interested...

you know, if everyone tags on for that maple, i'd be more than happy to chip in my little bit for a piece of it.

does that metalcast actually show up as a clear stain? that's awesome if it does. i would've never thought to "use" it.that woulda been helpful when i first started refinishing and had no clue how to properly stain a piece of wood...

uh...dude...you're backwards there...might want to start chanting "no left brain..."
the left and frontal lobes of the brain are what do the calculating for the mind, while the rear/right portion is the imagination/creativity musical side. most musicians fall under the "right-front" heavy area (the math from music and the right from music) while secretaries would be, say, front left, and english teachers are one hundred percent rear right, social studies teachers are that weird left rear, where everything has a settled path, but they look at it weird ways...

a rasp fell of an upper shelf at my old workplace (theatrical set construction for Starlight Theater, Illinois) and caught my left shoulder on the way down. that was the messiest wound i have ever had in my life...

i got into tinkering just by playing w/ my bass and guitar, but as i learned more, i started charging my friends for finishes and repairs and "upgrades" (better pickups, tuners, etc) and i've been doing that mostly when i need money, so like, a job or two a month. but def not pro...

hey lex, how do those ukes sound? i've got a baritone ukelele that i got for christmas that sounds like crap, and every other uke i've played other than mabye 2 or 3 have sounded as bad or worse...

one week before jan, isn't it?

still, 899 to 859 makes little to no sense, even with that in mind...

well, my SG will be, since i figured out how i'm gonna build it finally.
gonna be 3, 1/3" thick pieces of mahogany (cross-grained) with the chambers cut in 'em, then a 1/2" maple top and back, beveled at 45° on the sides (so it has a cool profile when it's on the mahogany) both highly flamed (i'll get pictures up soon) and with the carrieburst on the front. the back, i don't know yet, prolly just something that matches the outside look of the front.
as for what my burst is gonna look like, i'm gonna go over the whole top w/ a dark blue, then sand it down so it's only accenting the flames istead of staining the whole piece. in the center, a really yellow-ish orange, then a yellow, then a green. all with the blue highlight over it.
might be weird sounding by that description, but i have a really good idea of how it will turn out and i've done this style of staining before, so i know it works...
just hope it looks good enough to win whatever the prize is...

and yes, it was a fender. i say was because i've stripped it of all signs saying that it would be. i rubbed down the headstock label (that took a lot of paint thinner to get off) and i always had grover tuners on it instead of fender, but other than that and the finish, it's exactly how i got the thing.
actually, i won the guitar in a contest. it was signed by One Way Ride, Nickel Back, and Stir, but that was when they sucked and i really didn't like them and i wanted to actually play the thing (my first guitar, after all) so i stripped 'em down and did this really nasty, brush painted flame on it, really bad...horrible...actually...
it's also gone through a lot of permanent marker stages, which really isn't permanent when it comes to paint thinners and turpentine...
but yeah, i think it's gonna stay like that for a while. my next idea (after i finish my SG) is to put a really nice flame maple veneer on it and do some type of vintage burst, just to see how it would look.

oh my god...i got a vote!
2 even!
okay...okay...so one was mine...
nice job on the tele, though. my vote really went for yours, but i knew you were gonna win anyway, so i just happened to slip and click mine...

i think, that when we finally tag this guy down, the money that's made off of him (i heard $150,000 somewhere) should go to projectguitar and all of the people who have projects going on.
or...even better, it could completely fund the carriburst competition...
dude! yeah...

ooh...running the border...you bad men you...

does anyone care if this works? it is nothing but a useless post for some novice to make sure he knows what he's doing. c'mon people...let's actually see what's going on here...
jk. but i still don't care...

depends on what you mean by "love."
it's it an intimate relationship where each other's feelings are important and you worry about each other all the time and care about each other even more...
i'd say my guitar.
but if you just mean f*cking...
girlfriend...
