Thanks guys. I hadn't considered using forstner bits for the 'ears'. I will give that a go.

Hi, I've just registered, so not sure if this is the right place to discuss this topic.
Anyway, I'm having problems accurately creating a template for routing Jazz Bass pickups. My current thinking is to do a two-part template. The first one cuts the rectangle, and this is removed and replaced with another template to cut the ears. There must be an easier way to do it!!
I've seen Stew Macdonald has acrylic templates and a 1/4" bearing guied cutter to match. But do you think I can find the same cutter from Trend or Titman? WD also do acrylic templates and a 3/8" bearing guided bit
How do you guys do it? What I want is one template to do the whole process, but I can't get my head round what cutter(s) I need.
Thanks
Ian
Homemade Buffing Machine - Relationship Between Motor Rpm And Mop Rpm?
in Tools and Shop Chat

Hi,
I'm building a buffing machine and have been advised to go for a 3hp motor. The problem is I don't know what size pulley wheel I need on the motor shaft or the buffer centre shaft. This will determine what RPM motor to get and what RPM I achieve at the polishing face. Help!!
I need to achieve 1400 to 1500 RPM at the polishing face of the mop (as advised by the mop manufacturer), so I need a genius out there to say "you need a motor of xxRPM and pulley diameters of xxxmm". There's bound to be one on this forum!
Thanks
Ian
