judging by the pic in your other post
this is not a veneer but a carved top
and once again its a nice looking guitar
how bout you sell it as is and invest that money
into what you realy want and save this guitars life
instead of killing it. i mean you want to refinish it/change the finger board
ill buy it to save its death..cause that seems to be where its heading

is this what your looking for

Sorry nova... it is a funny mistake though
-
Supernova 69 is toatally correct. but i have to add
if your not sure whats involved dont just do it
read the how to's on this site and read alot of
other repair books as they will have better info than just
a building a guitar. im not trying to discredit your abillity
but if you have to ask that question then it sounds like
you lack the skill to do this type of job corectly
P.S that is a sweet looking guitar

90 pages of post's
why is the sustainer not as popular as the floyd rose
or the double truss rod as far as a must have
product for guitars? am i missing something?
and does this hold the site record for most post's
on one topic?

i use an ibanez backstop instead of a tremsetter
in one of my guitars. go ahead try to find one cheap now lol
anyhow unless you are changing tunings mid song
the fine tuner works. i use it all the time
from E to D or if im tuned down a half step then
D to C# but that depends on wich guitar i use as i have one in
standard. one flat. one drop d

dont know if you like to use sleezebay but here
http://stores.ebay.com/illiana-exotic-hard...sQ3amesstQQtZkm
they should have what you need

chaos ad and roots just kicked @ss
soulfly is to "techno" for me
-
i have two porter cables one unused. i bought two
on sale thinking i would use each for a different purpose
but still just use the one with no problems
and hitachi makes good tools. my cordless drill
and chopbox are old as hell and perform perfectly
-
to quote you "in fact one of the saddles is using a non-matching short set screw and was already well over-extended upon receipt-"
that right tells me to send it back
-
while i dont think the mesh would alter the tone or sustain.
i meant it as a test. if you put the mesh in and the
problem goes away then the neck was moving
and you can plan a permanent repair
and i think installing a dowel would do more to
alter the tone than the mesh anyway
im not saying my method is correct.
but its a cheap test and its worth the try right?
-
Try this. take a peice of drywall sanding mesh.
cut it to fit the neck pocket and put it between the neck
pocket and the neck. move the neck into position
and tighten it good. youll have to raise your bridge a little.
but if the neck is moving this should solve your problem.
as the abrasive in the mesh should bite into neck and pocket
and hopefully eliminating slippage

does'nt the fact his jackson has a compound radius board play into the feel factor?

if your your base ment was as wet as mine you need do nothing
it just would stick to the walls and floor ha.ha
-
im sorry i phrased that wrong i meant the "flimsy" parts made out of aluminum
and same with the base. ive seen some good deals on ebay
but would not want to buy somthing like this used
i do like the challange and would modify the design a bit
but all said and done this would be less than $150 as i have a second router
unused none the less. i just wanted to see if other people would go through the effort
to obtain the benefits. and not just production point of veiw
P.S. is there a thread to Myka's machine would love to see it just to see what extent
other people go through to fit there needs
-
ive been going nuts thinking if this is worth the effort
it looks great and not too expensive to make
but alot of labor and or time. but its uses make me want to build it
and i have family that owns a machine shop so i could get the
parts that take the most punishment made of metal
has anyone seen this? does it look worth it?

All the below information is from Dan Earlwines book "Guitar player repair guide"
i have alterd the info to for use of the floyd rose in floating mode
for all that dont have it buy it its a great book with tons of info
The ten step strat setup
no springs are installed yet and the claw is adjusted as lose it can go "make sure the screws are tight enough to hold the pressure of the springs when installed
step 1....string up lightly but not nearly to pitch
Step 2.."Block" the tremolo in the middle postion so it can float in either direction.
use a hard-wood block measuring 1" wide and 2" long that tapers from 1/4" to a 1/2"
shove it in between the rear of the tremolo block and the back of the tremolo cavity
Pic 1 below sorry about the battery im at home and its all i had to show this step
Step 3..install a capo at the first fret adjust the string height to the desired action. move the block in or out untill the tremolo base
is level with the guitars top."Pic 2 below" and check your action as it may have changed
tune to pitch. the block will hold the trem in place with the string tension.
step 4...adjust the relief if nessasary and remove the capo
play the guitar to make sure it is set to your satisfaction
step 5...reinstall the springs the way they were when removed and flip the guitar over so the trem cavity faces down and slowly tighten the springs untill the block falls out this will happen when spring tension = string tension. you may have to pull the block
out with very very little pressure and i do mean very little
you should now have a fully floating Floyd Rose thats in tune and ready to rip
and i always recomend a tremsetter on a floating trem

Ridgid Router?

i'd have to say nay on that for two reasons
1. im sure you could get it close to what i paid
and i would not take less than i paid
2. i will use it at some point either as the backup that it is
or to make an overhead pin router
