  1. Hey! So I bought a cheap acoustic and the body was ****, lots of problems. I smashed the body off and now I have the neck. I'm thinking of maybe sanding the paint off and staining it. For the body I'll be looking for a box. Tea box..or any box really. Cheapish but decent wood. It'll be an acoustic guitar. (Since i suck at wiring) Heres the neck. When i took it off there was these blocks of wood, obviously for structur and strength. Should i just leave them on? They're REALLY glued in there.
  2. but what about the 2x4? lol About the string ground. I remember fishing out my humbuckers in my semi-hollow electric and I dont remember seeing any string ground... and theres noooooooo hum at all.... weird?
  3. okay about the 2x4... do u mean so it would cover the soundhole from the inside??? like from the neck all the way to the butt?
  4. haha ur ass is a smart place. Yeah i agree with everyone also haha. I like going for the underdog guitar...although this guitar is a underunderunderdog
  5. I understand what everyones saying, but this is just a fun little project...if it does turn out horrible I'll blow this bad boy up. But I'm just doing it to practice and get a super ugly distortion sound (which i might not get or i will who knows its an experiment) As for the L brace thanks I'll give that a try if I glue it and it doesnt hold. Do you have any examples?
  6. Hello so i started a thread before talking about putting the pickup in the soundhole. I finally got the guitar and im going to start to put the pickup in. Theres a few things. This is a really ....USED guitar lol... and i like it cause i mean it cost me pocket change.. Tell me what you think i should do...To turn this shitty guitar, into a cool shitty guitar lol... 1- Theres a fret right under the nut... weird no?? 2- I took the pickguard off cause it was warped and the glue was shitty. (Should i put a new one like an electric guitar one) 3- The trapeze has a block of wood under it (just loose) i think it was to keep it a certain height.. not sure... 4- the strap thing and the trapeze where its screwed isnt aligned... its just the strap knob that isnt in the middle..no biggie 5- I felt with my hand theres enough space to drill a like...3"x2" hole... if i do this then i can easily fish everything to wire/pot. Then put a pickguard over it. What do you think??? Pics:
  7. SRry i had a diagram, i just had a flu and i forgot to post my img link :S Here it is But thanks for the link!
  8. So I can kinda understand what point goes to where, but when it comes down to the real thing and theres like 3 lugs to a pot and where each wire goes...i get lost. Im kinda sure this wont work but i gave it a try...i know its alot to ask but can someone either give me a link so i can learn or draw me up like where each wire goes to? Thanks
  9. Sorry pickup placement? im building the clamp/holding thing for the pickups right now but i want to wire it also before i put it in the guitar (pics to come). I found this wiring scheme looks pretty interested...but the thing is i\'m a noob at reading schematics...like maybe theres resources i can learn how to wire... i know the middle lug of a cap is the out...but im not sure how to wire everything properly....so i need help :S I gave it a shot but i\'m like 90% sure its not right what i drew up. Srry i posted the wrong pic, heres my drawing **Also since you guys are more experienced with wiring and have more experienced, if you have any ideas dont be shy to make it better or throw something in.
  10. how do popsicles clamp to the soundhole?? Sorry if im stupid and im just not picturing it. But for the glueing inside that sounds good.
  11. Cool that sounds better than screwing it in. Would i have to sand a bit of the varnish off to glue wood on wood? I have some wood glue i think. I was thinking of just getting some 11 or 12 flatwound electric strings. What are hybrids? I'm guessing half acoustic half electric material?
  12. Thanks alot PSW, pretty cool introduction to yourself lol. So yeah basiclly it seems the easiest/cheapest thing would be to convert my electric guitar pickup into and makeshift soundhole pickup. So in a nutshell the difference between the two (structurally) is they are longer so you can screw it in the wood, or they have clips at the end so grib on the soundhole edge. ***Update heres an example a quick 3d model to explain what i mean.
  13. Good catch Elysian thanks. Any ideas how to work around the X brace?
  14. Opps yea its a HB, not a single coil. Yeah i was thinking about doing that, but what you mean is the pickup would be placed umm...below the soundwhole right? I was just thinking of somehow putting it where the soundhole is so its closer to the neck. Yeah i was thinking if i put a pickguard i can removed some of the top of the guitar, wire it to the pickguard and then plop it on top. (like a strat) Sorry I'm geting PSW is a person on this forum? Yeah I would like to add some extras in the wiring since I only want to put 1 pickup. Maybe also a small EQ.
  15. Hi, I've been looking for information on this but I can't seem to find anything and I figured you bright fellas might know a thing or two! So heres what I'm going to do. Basiclly I'm picking up this old acoustic guitar tonight from my friend for 20$ because he doesnt play and its just collecting dust. I also have a few pickups lying around (not acoustic pickups) so I was thinking I'll fit them into the acoustic and get a cool sound from it. Just a cheap little project I dont want to spend much money. The thing is obviously a pickup wont fit in it and i was wondering what would be the best way to do it? -And i want the pickup to be a neck pickup, not really worried about the bridge. Idea 1. Buy an electric guitar pickguard and somehow install it on that then put it so it slips in the soundhole. 2. But a soundhole filler and install it in there (i dont really want to do that because its not going to sound great when I play it acousticly. 3. Basiclly just add some wood to the side of the pickup then screw it in the soundhole as close to the neck as possible. Anyways if someone could send me out some ideas or links. I'm going to keep no researching. I'm gonna try to get this done this weekend or by monday. Thanks!
  16. I willie think if u willie wanna gut ini weal hep u need sum 2 what speek unglish ur aybe u prob figure it ut urself. Hey thanks for the smart ass comment! You're a lot of help. I mean that IS why I post here, so I can get stupid replies. Thanks.

  20. WOW! im so glad everyones likes it I started the laquer already im almost done. I have ****ing runs though its annoying i tried sanding it out but for some reason its not working. i'll post a picture I did aerosol SATIN laquer so its not glossy (looks more violin finish). Thanks i'll try out those peg ideas
  21. I was thinking about that how can i go about doing that?
  22. Okay so i did more research and i think that this SHOULD work. Question if this does work, do i put caps on each tone pots and ground them? or do i connect tone caps to the vol pot? -Also my humbuckers only have 1 wire each, can i put them in phase or out? Thanks!
  23. sorry i think i lost u in there, Each pickup goes to their tone pot (middle lug) Middle lug in the switch goes to middle lug in master vol, and to the output How do the tones and the varitone get connected 2 the switch or the vol?
