  1. Does anyone know how Ibanez gets that chrome finish? Is it real chrome or some kind of special lacquer?

    Thanks for any info,

    Marcel!

If you're going to try it, you might give Duplicolor's instant chrome finish a shot. It's not real chrome, mind you, and I don't know how well it will work, but it'll certainly be far easier than trying to electroplate a piece of wood.

I got some. The shiny cap was really appealing. But that stuff is just silver good paint - it sure ain't chrome.

  2. pretty cool, nice neck, good call on the hot rails! but you should really get rid of that peice of junk amp in the backround, and since i'm just such a nice guy though i'll take it off your hands free of charge :D

I've always hated the way the Soldano sound good no matter what you plug into it and no matter you set the knobs to. It's kind of you to take it off my hands. What's your address?

  3. The technical particulars:

    • mahogany body from Warmoth's thrift shop which was pretty light finished with a few coats of tung oil
    • one piece rosewood neck w/jumbo frets and shell inlay dots on the fingerboard - I left it unfinished
    • Lace Chrome Dome pickups
    • Gotoh Wilkinson vintage-style Strat bridge
    • Gotoh locking Kluson tuners
    • Graphtech nut and string tree
    • Electrosocket jack
    • cool knobs with shell tops

  4. This is the first parts guitar I put together all by myself. The body is one of USA Custom Guitars' fine ash Tele's. The neck is scalloped so I had to get that from Warmoth. I wanted an Antigua style finish but didn't have any good color samples. Ty at Roxy Guitar Finish did a very cool finish - not quite Antigua but very sweet indeed. The pickups pictured are Kinman Broadcasters, standard Kluson style tuners, modern 6 saddle bridge. I have since swapped the bridge pickup out for a Duncan Hot Rails.

  5. The body was hand painted by my mother.

The neck and body are from USA Custom Guitars. The clear coat on the neck and body were done by Roxy Guitar Finish. The bridge, tuners, pots, and most other hardware except pickups are from Warmoth. The two humbucker sized pickups are TV'Trons direct from TV Jones. The middle pickup is a Dimarzio HS-3 and I got it and the gold cover from universaljems.com. The HS-3 pickup ring came from stewmac.com.
