  1. Fill grain, seal wood, spray paint, shoot finish. Win at life. :D

If you have no previous experience using whatever tool you're spraying with, test on scrap wood until you're able to shoot a nice consistent coat. It took me a good 5-10 tries before I was getting a near flawless coat.

Make sure the paint you're using is compatible with the finish you're using. If you aren't sure, test on scrap wood.

Any suggestions on paint type? Brands? Which brands to avoid? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

  2. He's talking about the lower horn on the flon klar "firebird". It doesn't look like you will be able to reach the last 8-10 frets. But as always, very interesting stuff. I can see Prince ordering one soon

Prince? Um, ok nice dig that was totally unnecessary :D

    Gibson alraedy has a Firebird

    I thought that was a Thunderbird? :D

  3. I see the resurgence of these "metal" guitars & all I can picture is 5' high men in makeup, capes & high boots :D .....since an encounter with Danni Filth I've not been able to take anything like that seriously.

nicely built, not my thing at all but, I'll keep checking back in the hope that I can be converted.

Hahahahaha well I am 5'10" and never wear said makeup, capes nor high boots! hahahahaha

  4. This Godless Endeavor / Jeff Loomis (Nevermore)

The Shortest Straw / Kirk Hammett (Metallica)

Master of Puppets / Kirk Hammett (Metallica)

Architect of Pain / Gary Holt (Exodus)

    Domination / Dimebag Darrell (Pantera)

    Floods / Dimebag Darrell (Pantera)

Shock Me (Alive II) / Ace Frehley (Kiss)

Rock & Roll All Nite (Alive) / Ace Frehely (Kiss)

    :D

  5. I think the asymetry is just in the first pic, where one side is still rough cut on the bandsaw, and one side has been sanded. In the more recent pic they look to have both been sanded, and look pretty much bang-on symetrical to me.

Looking good BTW, should end up *very* metal.

I agree with you on the first pic...

Hey thanks bro! I really appreciate it!

  6. it looks a lot like the regular Axxion which I am not a fan of

Body shape is very close to Axxion shape.....I just incorporated an AANJ into the design and will use a bold-on neck. This is shape my brother picked out. That he is jumping for joy and can't wait to play it, is all that matters in this.

  7. Hey thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah when John (Flon Klar Guitars) cut the wings he used the same template and then sanded them down to be exact. The pics were taken on a cell phone so they are not the best, which could cause the illusion of them being a-symmetrical.

Thanks for the suggestion of the bullseye, but I have never been a fan of that paint-job. We are going to paint it gloss black, with the possibility of blood red bevels.

  8. Nice and clean, as always, RGGR *is jealous* So is that the neck that's going on the body, or is it just for the visual? I'm thinking that you could combine the headstock designs into a good-lookin' product.

I have to agree with Xanthus, it looks a lot like the regular Axxion which I am not a fan of. Maybe put some more points on it! Points are always good!

  9. IMHO, I think headbanging looks ridiculous. Usually it looks like they are trying to look cool, but they don't. Just do your own thing instead of worrying about what people think. The coolest thing you can see at a live show is somebody being themselves 100% and looking completely effortless at what they are doing.

I always liked Petruccis deer in the headlight look like he's looking through you. Then he gets a little mad face when he does a wicked bit, then back to the computer processing or whatever the hell he's doing in there.

What type of music do you play?
