  1. I would recomend them to people on a budget, although its probably good to try a few out like any other guitar.
  2. Yup, tis a westfield, i tried a few in the shop that were in my price range, and the westfield beat them all easily. I got lucky on it. Its not sandthrough mate, i think its a few dabs of epoxy or glue to fill some dents in the abelone(sp?) Looks bad right close up like that, but its hardly noticable really. I think it is a sand through, or wearing away of the inlay - the grain matches the wood perfectly. Not a chance that's glue/epoxy. Its not a sand through dude, it was raised up a little when i got it so i had to scrape it back a bit, a sand through would'nt be raised up. And if you look really closely at the picture, you can see the lines of the abelone going though it. Anyway, like i said, its not really that noticable from further than a few feet away.

  5. the specs on the site i got it from say rosewood, they could be making specs up though. I do know that sometimes good wood sneaks through and onto budget guitars, so i mayu have just been lucky, ive seen a few of the same model as i have, and mine is the only one with a figued fretboard. But like you said, it may be dyed wood, but how could i check?
  6. will cleaning and rubing in mineral oil darken it as well?
  7. I have a flamed rosewood board on my les paul copy, which looks pretty sweet. But i would like to darken the fretboard, without losing the flame. And if possible, bring the flame out more. Any help would be much appreciated
  8. oh, i'll look that up al, thanks.
  9. Cheers rggr, im completely unexperienced in the field of finishing, so thanks for the tips.
  10. ok, where would you suggest i can buy some non crap finish? Im in the uk remember so im not going to be able to get nitro from the u.s. Where could i get real hardening polyurethane from?
  11. There are spots and patches on the finish that are large and through to the wood. Its pretty battered to be honest. If i sand a key and spray over it, will the dents and patches still be visible? And its polyurethane i think. Is there something i can use to fill the dents and then spray a solid colour over it?
  12. I have looked through the forum and i am still unsertain how i can most easily remove the finish from my guitar. Its a poly finish as far as i know. Would the best way be to sand it, or is there a faster way? Also, will i have to treat the wood or anything before i refinish it? It'll be another poly finish. Also, also ive seen a spray poly finish at the hardware shop designed for interior furniture like banisters and things, would this be a suitible finish? or would car spray laquor(sp?) be the best thing? Sorry for all the questions......
  13. Thanks for the advice there guys. I may try it, but im lazy, so i may not. But thanks anyway
  14. Yeah, i'll probably do that mate. Just curious to see if its been done before.
  15. Hello all, This here is my first post. I have this squier tele neck that i want to use on a body i've built. But the tele headstock does'nt really go with the design. Is it possible to cut the tele headstock off above the truss rod hole and glue a replacement headstock on?
