  1. I'm building a guitar from birch, and with that I mean that every piece of wood is birch. So I can give a wood review once it's finished. One thing I can say is that it chews routerbits like candy. A new bit can't be used long at all before it needs replacement.

  2. However, with the build, that cut in the headstock seems drastic and could cause flexing issues, just my observations but I'd pay some attention to that area before making any cuts. I know it's just a cad picture but like you said, you'll be following your cad measurements.

    The headstock reminds me a lot of Blackmachine's headstocks, but they have even less material in that area, and it seems to work for them.

  3. Can't help you with a lot of your problems, just one. You don't need a template bit. Buy a bit with the same diameter on the shaft and the cutting part of the bit (I use one with a 1/4" shaft and 1/4" cutting diameter). You'll need to cut a little faster to avoid ruining the template. If you start out with maybe a 12mm bit, or maybe even drilling out all the excess, this method works fine.
