Thanks for all the feedback guys this baby will be finished on Monday, and yes the paint is incredibly expensive, my dad had leftovers from a car he painted, for ONE PINT it is $400 Canadian. WE used about 50 or 60 dollars worth. So do you guys think this could be in the running for GOTM
Bass-man
With those prices, I hope you mixed in a little gold and diamonds in the paint As for GOTM, maybe! That paint makes it a bit special, and a 7-string V isn't extremely common. Try it out and see what happens!

Guitarporn! Beautiful instrument!
-
i never realised you were so young!!!
Hahahaha!
The bass got me thinking of Claypool's Rainbow somehow. Nice build!

The paint looks great! FINISH THE SUCKER!!
-
Beautiful work!
-
WOW! This was awesome!

No experience at all, but I'd let it sit for a couple of days (??), and apply quite a bit of dye, and keep it wet until it's finished. But as I said, I have no experience in dyeing...

I agree with andrekel, stay in this thread.

Cool guitar! I like the green flames over the black base

Keep us posted, this axe really caught my attention!

8-stringers isn't really my thing, but this one is amazing! Such a beautiful instrument! Glad you made it a 30" scale as well, I had the "pleasure" do play an Ibanez RG2228 a while ago, and the 27" is not enough, the F# was way too floppy. As someone said earlier, this should be GOTM! Enter with this guitar and see what happens

Why not do it the Caparison way? Slanted humbucker in singlecoil size, and a chopped off 28th fret? Yes, I know that the Caparison has 26 frets.

I have a jointer, but I think I'll use your method instead. Seems a lot safer than running a quilted maple top through a jointer Id like to request some photos though, just to see exactly how you do it.

Strat/Superstrat style guitars. They work great both when standing and sitting. No sharp points to poke you , and they just feel really good.

I like the Rhoads-style shape, and I'm a sucker for maple fingerboards Nice build!

:D You are like.... the best dad.... ever.
Looks awesome!
I wish my dad would have done that too, but I guess he doesn't like me
Nice work on the bass, it really turned out beautiful!

Turned out really cool I'd say! How does it play/sound?

The first one is basically my dream guitar. Slap on an Ibanez headstock, and a black backside, and there ya go
That's sarcasm, right?
If I didn't build myself, I'd trade every Ibanez in my collection for one of Mike's instruments.
Haha! No. It really looks like the picture in my head, but without those two things I just like the 7 in-line better (not that the guitar was ugly or anything, just my preference)

The first one is basically my dream guitar. Slap on an Ibanez headstock, and a black backside, and there ya go The last one is basically on second place (I'm a sucker for the UVGR's!), so personally , i think you've done an awesome job on the guitars!

If nothing is specified, it's likely passive. I checked out their site, and they seem to specify which pickups are active, but not the passives (except the ones that "look" active).

That bass looks awesome! Like the colour of the sunburst with the black pickguard, and the headstock was a nice twist of Fender's shape. Great work!
-
Thanks guys
Here's the neck shape being roughed out, via sanding disk
Nice and thick headstock Nice work
-
Thanks guys!
Pietarsaari? Just as weird as Ahvenanmaa!Jakobstad is the Swedish name for Pietarsaari. Haha yeah the city names looks a bit wierd when written

I've got a few other projects i'll be pursuing before the EXP neck, but then again I do have a huge old piece of Honduran mahogany and a Macassar fingerboard which i've set aside for this purpose, so it may be within the next 2-3 months. Not sure!
My wife is Finnish, so we have all kinds of language flying around this house :-D
Okay, nice! I'll keep my eyes open for it
Haha okay One pretty odd thing with a specific part on Finland, is that they only learn Swedish. Jakobstad is one os those cities. Feels pretty odd that they can't speak Finnish, yet they are from Finland

Haha no, but I wish I did Göteborg is a nice city, but I live about 1000-1500km away, so I rarely get the chance to go there
