  1. Hey guys, I bought the book 'Make your own electric guitar and bass' by Dennis Waring and David Raymond and they build a nice guitar in that. I have a set of 3 Lace Single coil pickups i want to use in the guitar i make yet i dont want to use a pickguard and electrics under the strings like in a standard strat, i pretty much want to follow the design of this guitar in the book except with single coils. Can you get brackets that hold song coils in place. I am thinking you are most likey able to and if so why dont we see more guitars with 3 single coils that isnt a copy of a strat. Thanks, Ben
  2. Thanks man, But the link you gave me doesnt work. Can ya check it for me please. Cheers, Ben
  3. Hey, I got a set of new Lace Vintage Single coild pickups off ebay for AU$220 which i thought was good value. Im still deciding on whether to buy the neck or build it... As for scalloping, i think i might not scalop the guitar but get high frets. Thanks for the links to all the shops ill be having a look around them after i write this. I am going to buy a book and so far i have chosen this one Thanks again, Benno
  4. Hey thanks for the replys. I live in Moree, NSW, its a town in the north, 6 hours from Brisbane. We have one guitar shop here, but its pretty poor exuse for a guitar shop. I usually buy out of catalogues, mainly Pro Audio, probly cause its the only decent shop i have a ordering catalogue for. Cheers Ben
  5. Hey im in the process of design a guitar, u may have seen my other post in the Electrics section. I am after some Scalloping vs not scalloping ideas. I am considering scalloping from the 12th fret to the 2nd for my malmsteen licks Also i am after if anyone knows what some good aussie shops are to buy guitar parts. Thanks for your time, Benno
  6. Okay here we go, 1st ill introduce myself i am 16 years old, have nevr built a guitar before, but have been playing for quite a few years, I live in AUstralia and im at school on year 11. I do a subject called Deisgn and Technology and can design and build anything that satisfys a need. And a need is to have private practise time without having to have anything more than a guitar. And also it is very quiet type of practise as well... anyways.. what i was thinking was................. Now i have very little experience with amps and electrics except for changing pickups. Anyway i was thinking that maybe you could put a tiny little amp in the guitar just before the out put jack then adding a headphone jack to the guitar. The style of guitar would probly be a sratocaster style. And i realise i could only have no effects what so ever. One amp i was looking at is here ..very small, fit easily into a strat with a little bit more routing Has this been done before, is it possible? And for anyone else in AUstralia looking at making a guitar for DT dont steal my idea Cheers Guys, Ben
