I really do love this shape, its is going to great looking guitar. For the lower rear horn I would go for some thing more curvy. So it blends with the upper rear horn. But that is me and its your baby. I look forward to seeing the finished guitar.

English sycamore is also known as European maple, Acer Campestre. Which is like a soft maple I think.

When winding pickups and you run out of wire before you have the right amout of windings on, is there a way to join a new roll of wire or do you have to start again?

Thank you for the help Bowser. Will it be ok to use a licensed floyd rose like one made by Gotoh (I have been told they make trems for Ibanez). Or are Schaller trems better and worth the extra money ?

Does anyone know of a trem that will replace a low trs trem with no modding needed. The guitar is a EDR series so has a luthite body that i dont want to mess with.

I have had a go at making truss rods, they are not that hard to do. Here is a link that might help you.

You could try gsrguitars.co.uk for your scratchplate, they make custom parts like that. I didnt think the PGM models had a scratchplate tho. Do a search for the RG plans, they are the same as a Jem and have been posted a few times

You could try and get hold of the whammy II pedal. This model did not have a rotary knob but a footswitch instead.

I dont know how to date them but you could ask on the Wayne (Charvel) guitars forum.

You could do the inlay the same way Brian did the inlay for the 3d inlay tutorial on the main site. He used acrylic and vinyl.

No you would not have to do any rewiring. The pickguard will just screw off, you will have to unscrew the pickups and controls of the pickguard to.

Yes you can paint pickups but you could use bobbin toppers as well. It is a lot quicker and easyer to use them. Brian sells them at Universal Jems.

If you want to do it on the cheap, you could always use sticky vinyl to cover your pickguard. A new black pickguard would look better tho.

What is Dan Erlewine's forum called, I would like to read what he has to say about this. If I remember I will record the guitar before and after the mod and see if I can post the sound clips.

I have just read that Buzz Feiten shims all his bolt on necks. To separate the neck from the body slightly. He says that the body and the neck have there own resonant frequencies and separating them allows each to resonate somewhat independently. This mod also creates a negative/reverse neck angle. He says that it increases volume and alters the low end.

If I get time over weekend I am going to do this mod on one of my guitars to see if what he says is true, but i have always believed that a good snug neck joint is best. I will let you know how it goes and if i can hear the differance.
