  1. so, does it mean the neck will be thicker? or "has MORE meat" means less shaping? can I still have 18mm neck thickness with this method? btw, I saw you on another board, you should post your geetar over there, man (mux ) terima kasih
  2. could you please tell us about that trapezoid neck? I wanted to try it, but I canceled it because on Toons' site he said that he put aluminum bar(s) in the neck, and I don't like that aluminum idea. did you use any aluminum bar or just trussrod? cheers!!!
  3. I didn't see "a null vote is a vote" (wanted to vote for Jaden actually) about my pics, I don't have better pics, sorry. My guitar is in Indonesia and I'm in hawaii at this time, no chance to get recent pic about straight fret at 12th, I had no idea, it's my first build anyway, so maybe I'll try to put it at 7th or 9th next time

  5. you may hate the looks, but maybe you're gonna love the way it feels when you play it
  6. my orange lady has some flaws, cosmetically, but I leave it as it is, because I love her just the way she is one last thing: födelsedagen min söta lilla läkare I don't know if it's correct or not, it's been a while since my last time learning it, but for those of you who speak this language, wish me luck guys (even though I don't believe in luck at all). CHEERS!!!
  7. oh well, she's done now here she is: I forgot to put cavity cover last one, my fave pic
  8. I'll keep it for myself then... (just like what happened to you ) peace mate
  9. I was afraid about that thing as well. but, let's see... frontside w/ dark brown hstock: backside w/ weathered brown body: what do you guys think? I can't change it anymore anyway, it's final. if it looks bad after I put all of the hardware, I'm gonna blame the lady
  10. can I join? check this one out: Aldridge Empire you can see one of his works in my build thread Made in Indonesia
  11. 976 views on this thread, but only 6 people share their thought about this building progress. one of my friend said maybe it's because of my thread title "made in Indonesia" but I don't care I'm proud to be an Indonesian, and will always be I'll share one more pic before I go to work on my guitar, or most likely to bed here's my family pic, not all of us, just what I got in my room at this time *I'm a pretty good swirler too, eh? CHEERS!!!
  12. while u guys are waiting, I have a little present for all of u my mentor's guns: the man himself: yeah, a lefty... a lefty guitar monster
  13. now about the colour I wanted to use purple actually, but the lady (not mine) said "orange is cool!", so orange it is about that lady, I don't know how to say it, but since this is a luthier forum, I think I don't have to say it here the problem is, I never used orange before (I painted a lot of guitars). so, I had a hard time to decide what kind of orange I'm gonna do. but, like the ad says: just do it, so I did it. in my language: "HAJAR BLEH" the result is like this: surprisingly good reminds me of carrot
  14. back to body again \m/ after final sanding: a little bit amber:
  15. howdy howdy \m/\m/\m/ quick view on the neck oiled: polished (after like 9 or 10 layers, can't remember): under sunset light: wish she's here with me hey, it's ok for metalhead to be a little bit sentimental, right
  16. if u guys are wondering what kind of bridge I'm gonna use, it's gonna be like this: bridge with individual rail, I ordered them from a friend of mine last year, I told him what kind of bridge I need and he made it, cool guy cnc made, 100% accurate he made them before he started his own guitar hardware company, so mine is one of his first ever product that he sells. kinda prototype, no brand, no stamp, one of a kind duralumin rails (he told me it's a hi grade aluminum), brass & composite (teflon?) saddles. yeah, I got 2 sets of saddles, but I'm gonna use brass ones for this one. he has his own company now, called Aldridge Empire, very good quality. one of his works: you can see more of his works here Aldridge Empire
  17. time to show some holes , eh? here we go... ferrules: controls layout: it's gonna be 1 volume, 1 killswitch, and a 5 way selector. bridge holes: hang on guys...
  18. back to the body:D I put some nice (at least for me) spots on it, like this: this: and this (a la PRS): do you see my van halen shoes? I like that curves, especially on the lower horn, so my left hand won't get "cut" when I play on the upper frets. and I'm still wondering why not all guitar manufacturers do it, I mean, every guitar player will feel more comfortable with this kind of shape instead of sharp edges, like on ibanez rg that's why I carve my rg, event though it will reduce its resale value (I don't sell my main guitars anyway )
  19. back to the body neck pocket routing: pickup cavity: that's all, I forgot to take most of my building progress, I was too busy with the woods
  20. who's this guy? first poster and said it's a nice build well, he's one of the best builder here in Indonesia I told him to put his works here, but he never do it, maybe he's just too lazy to do this kind of thing jk here's an example of his bulid: you can see more of his work in Depok *I can't believe I hijacked my own thread
  21. thanks about the car, but they're not mine both are my mentor's alright, colouring time (colouring?? yeah ) I'm using dyes for this build, because I want to finish it fast before I go back to the states. first I applied some amber: then very dark brown: sanded back: and put some more amber: sorry for some small pics, I have to alternate between imageshack and flickr, because some pics don't work on imageshack
  22. back of the neck, weted (is that a correct word?): back of hstock: and I made a thumb rest, so I will feel comfy when I play on the upper frets
