  1. I'm pretty sure you don't HAVE to put alum bars B) He just likes that kinda stuff. Actually, if anything, a trapazoidal neck has MORE meat on it than a normal neck and is therefore MORE stiff than a traditionally carved one.

    Chris

so, does it mean the neck will be thicker?

or "has MORE meat" means less shaping? :D

can I still have 18mm neck thickness with this method?

btw, I saw you on another board, you should post your geetar over there, man (mux :D)

    terima kasih B)

no fancy black backdrop on the pics, straight from my room.

maximum of 4 pics per guitar entered, I followed the rules.

    CHEERS!!!

  3. my orange lady has some flaws, cosmetically, but I leave it as it is, because I love her just the way she is :D

    one last thing:

    födelsedagen min söta lilla läkare

I don't know if it's correct or not, it's been a while since my last time learning it, but for those of you who speak this language, wish me luck guys :D

(even though I don't believe in luck at all).

    CHEERS!!!

  4. 976 views on this thread, but only 6 people share their thought about this building progress.

one of my friend said maybe it's because of my thread title "made in Indonesia" :D

    but I don't care :P

I'm proud to be an Indonesian, and will always be :D

I'll share one more pic before I go to work on my guitar, or most likely to bed B)

here's my family pic, not all of us, just what I got in my room at this time

    playgroundo.jpg

*I'm a pretty good swirler too, eh? B)

    CHEERS!!!

  5. now about the colour

I wanted to use purple actually, but the lady (not mine) said "orange is cool!", so orange it is B)

about that lady, I don't know how to say it, but since this is a luthier forum, I think I don't have to say it here B)

the problem is, I never used orange before (I painted a lot of guitars).

so, I had a hard time to decide what kind of orange I'm gonna do.

but, like the ad says: just do it, so I did it.

in my language: "HAJAR BLEH" :D

    the result is like this:

    bodyamber4.jpg

    surprisingly good

    reminds me of carrot :D

  6. if u guys are wondering what kind of bridge I'm gonna use, it's gonna be like this:

    saddles.jpg

bridge with individual rail, I ordered them from a friend of mine last year, I told him what kind of bridge I need and he made it, cool guy :D

    cnc made, 100% accurate B)

he made them before he started his own guitar hardware company, so mine is one of his first ever product that he sells.

kinda prototype, no brand, no stamp, one of a kind :D

duralumin rails (he told me it's a hi grade aluminum), brass & composite (teflon?) saddles.

yeah, I got 2 sets of saddles, but I'm gonna use brass ones for this one.

he has his own company now, called Aldridge Empire, very good quality.

    one of his works:

    30728_124628790896567_100000483399841_261991_4830688_n.jpg

you can see more of his works here Aldridge Empire

  7. back to the body:D

I put some nice (at least for me) spots on it, like this:

    progress3.jpg

    this:

    progress4.jpg

    and this (a la PRS):

    progress8.jpg

do you see my van halen shoes? :D

I like that curves, especially on the lower horn, so my left hand won't get "cut" when I play on the upper frets.

and I'm still wondering why not all guitar manufacturers do it, I mean, every guitar player will feel more comfortable with this kind of shape instead of sharp edges, like on ibanez rg B)

that's why I carve my rg, event though it will reduce its resale value :D

(I don't sell my main guitars anyway B))

  8. Nice cars! Build too.

thanks about the car, but they're not mine B)

    both are my mentor's :D

alright, colouring time (colouring?? yeah :D)

I'm using dyes for this build, because I want to finish it fast before I go back to the states.

    first I applied some amber:

    progress30.jpg

    then very dark brown:

    4929801144_06e6bfa5da_m.jpg

    sanded back:

    4929802500_a9c63d1acd_m.jpg

    and put some more amber:

    progress42.jpg

sorry for some small pics, I have to alternate between imageshack and flickr, because some pics don't work on imageshack B)
