I'm planning an Ibanez DT-400 build. I have read that the lawsuit era Destroyers have a nut width of 1-5/8". Do all the Destroyers use that nut width?

You're welcome.

Those sites look good. Thanks for posting them.

Guys I can't figure out which type of locking nut to replace this one with. The nut width is 1 and 11/16th....a common nut width. But this locking nut is unlike the Floyd-Rose style, where screws go all the way through the body.
Where could I find a replacement???
A Kahler string lock should work. Check www.kahlerparts.com

Nice looking V! Have you tried 500k ohm pots? That should brighten up the tone. A capacitor may help too.

I have a Charvel Model 6 with a Kahler. The Kahler has more sustain than a strat trem since the base plate is bolted on the guitar. It feels just like a fixed bridge. Also a lot smoother when using the bar.

Sounds good! Definitely has that British tone.

Nice work! I can't wait to see it finished. Is the fretboard flat?

You did an excellent job. Where did you buy the chassis? I have been thinking about building an amp sometime.

hz piickups are horrible...stay with the active line
Ya I know that every one seems to swap out the crummy HZ's and they toss in some 707s or 81-7's
So any one know where these things Are at
!!METAL MATT!!
I have only seen a few on ebay.

Man, thats too much gas o_O
What are the stock pups in that thing?
EMG hz, which I thought were pretty weak. Much better sounding with the 707.

The trem is an Ibanez Edge. Same trem on my Ibanez RG 560. More info on edge trems here It looks like the guitar was made in 1996.
Nice guitar.

I'm thinking about building a shred style guitar. IE: 16" radius, wide bridge and nut, f-spaced high output humbuckers, the works. But then it dawned on me... why do all the well known shred style guitars (eg: Ibanez's Jems and RGs) have a 25.5" scale? Wouldn't as a shreder you want you frets to be smaller and closer so you could move around faster and with greater ease and not having to move/stretch as far?
I'm asking this because I want to know if there is a truely particular reason they are like this, or it just tradition, cause I've been thinking about making my shred guitar with the above specs, but with a Gibson (true 24.75") scale instead.
Thoughts?
Chris
I'm not sure why most shred guitars are 25.5" scale. It could be because they are based off strats. Personally I like 25.5" scale, easier to play the higher frets. Caparison's Horus model is 24.75" and has 27 frets. I don't think it will matter too much for shredding as long as you like it.

My blog is up with pictures @ http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseacti...&indicate=1 I know that this is boring run of the mill stuff for some of you guys-but it's new and exciting to me, and I'm taking it serious. Thanks for looking, and as always, I'm open for suggestions.
