  1. I've been around.... working with my band alot...

http://www.toliveistodie.tk click the myspace link for our tunes... I play guitar...

    Obviously...

Well I know it's not meant for guitar. But I asked if it would work... Thats what the Eq and Compressor are for, to round it off. Cause that's essentially what a guitar amp is... a pre-amp, a compressor, and eq, and then a power amp. Right? So would piecing things like these together work? I'm kinda sick of my Crate half-stack.

I just want something I can build and build upon. And I don't wanna dish out 1,000 bucks for a marshall pre-amp. Ya know? Can anyone else help me out?

Btw.. sorry about the double links.. the eq link is just a DOD rack-mount 2 channel slider Eq, nothing special.

  2. Well I want to build my own head and it to be inexpenisve, and to be able to improve upon it forever and after.... So My idea... buy a pre-amp, Equalizer, compressor, sonic Maxamizer, and power amp and put em on one rack.. Would this work?

My idea for a pre-amp would be something like this:

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home.../base_id/110385

    This Equalizer:

    This Compressor:

    This Sonic Maximizer:

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=live...h/d=tp?q=180910

And some power amp... nothing big, something small, ya know?

Would this work? My plan would to eventually be upgrade everything a little at a time.... Ya know? But the question is will it work?

    Thanks guys.

  3. Hello my friends. Posting for my first time in months. Anyhow, over the summer I had a bunch of mother of pearl sitting around, and my girlfriend's birthdya was coming up, and she has an affinity for mother of pearl. So I made her a necklace pendant in the shape of a heart with her initials inside. It came out REALLY NICE. Near perfect. In fact, she's wearing it at this moment (I'm in the school library and she's sitting across te room). Anyhow, even after we had a very bad break-up, she still wears cause it's so awesome...

But the rammifications of making this were huge. Right after I finished making the pendant, I developed a severe sickness. I had a 104-107 degree fever, vomiting, cold sweats, involuntary and uncontrollable shaking, and very difficult breathing. This lasted for a week, but the difficult breathing and a cough lasted for about a month afterwards. Anyhow, since then I've vowed never to touch mother of pearl ever again, and gone through a few girlfriends.

But right now I'm dating this amazing girl, truly amazing. And I wanna do something really nice for her for christmas. And making her a pendant is the best I can think of. She plays guitar in a big local band, and loves guitars, and loves the color white, and etc. so I think she would like this gift very much. So I'm going to risk making another pendant. But this time, I'm not going to do it in a room with no windows, the doors closed, the fan on, and no mouh protection. As I think that is where I went wrong.

So anyhow, what safety precautions should I take, exactly when dremeling/sawing/sanding MOP?

    Thanks,

    John

  4. atleast pirates are men. Ninjas are crappy. Pirates fight their enemies head on. Ninja's are girly back-stabbers.

Pirates get piss drunk, ninjas don't because they're worried that if they're drunk they might make a loud sound and get caught.

pirates fight on the open sea, if their ship was shot down they'd all die... for a wimpy ninja that would be "too risky"...

pirates fight and kill for money and women.. ninjas fight for "honour" and crap..

    what now? B):D

  5. that newspaper thing would be cool if al the articles were about bizzare things such as Charlie Manson killing people, princess diana dying, tons of people dying in a car crash, etc... It would be hard to go back and find all these clippings, so my idea is: buy blank newsaper paper... and then print the articles off the internet.. and then clip them as if out of a real newspaper.. It could work... and even make a fake one about you (whoever is creating it) becoming king of the world or something... it could be awesome if done right...

    sorry about stealing your thread...

  6. different aspects of guitar and guitar playing ARE disappearing... like solos are ALOT more scarce... There really aren't many more Jimi Hendrixs and not many more Kirk Hammets... I personally pretty much only solo... Hammet is a god to me...

And power chords and crap is in fashion right now... But i don't think guitar is becoming a thing of the past any time soon.

  7. BTW, congrats on finally taking your pictures outside. Now just start getting a leedle beet closer. :D

HEY!! Come on dude, we all love Litch's photos.

    Speak for youself! B)

Seriously, I would probably have a better chance at GOTM if my pics were of better quanlity. Until my wife got her new camera (Olympus with 3.2 megapixels or something, compared to my .3 mewagapixels) my pictures sucked. The effort was good though.

uhhh litch... whats "quanlity" and "mewagapixels" ? I never heard of those two words before :D

haha, just kidding... nice wood there buddy... (no pun intended)

  8. I started when I was 10, on a enourmous-necked acoustic guitar that had strings 1/2" (ok, maybe a little less...) above the fretboard (it was a Takamine Jasmine). A year later I got my first electric(Epi LP SpecialII), and a year after that I started playing lead in my contemporary church's band. After doing that for a few months I upgraded all of my gear, and now I play too much I think, but I love it. And now (after almost 6 years of playing) whenever I pick my Jasmine I wonder how I made myself stick with it in the beginning. :D

me too... i play my old acoustic with super high strings once in a while and i'm amazed that i actually stuck with it for awhile...

  9. I voted hendrix, only because Kirk Hammet wasn't on there.

This is a little off, too... "best" is too hard to define... i mean.. BB King isn't the best guitarist ever, but he is the most influencial Blues guitarist ever....

    it's a dumb poll... sorry..

  10. about the brass... i was watching discovery channel, and they were about to paint a hood of a car.. but then somebody touched the metal with bare hands...

they said that the oils from the hands would make it tarnish and rust under the finish, and crack it off... so my guess is that if you used some brasso then alcolol or something and cleaned up the brass to the point of no oils on it what so ever, and then put a few thin coats of clear coat over, then there wouldn't be too much worry about tarnish, would there? Because it's finger oils and such that cause tarnish., and the clear coat would protect it and all...

  11. i would go to a book store, buy a book with lots of really good pictures of lightning in them, pick one out, then go to a printing place and get it blown up to a guitar size.. I spend alot to get the best quality one, as well. Then i'd glue it onto a body (preferably non-arched) then clear over.. a material finish... The reason i said i'd buy a book is because if you downloaded the picture off the internet it's going to be a little grainy, and if you look up close you'll see pixels.. It would look bad that way, i'd think..

  12. hey snork! haven't seen you in a while!

BTW i bought a crate 12 inch 65 watt amp. It was 130 bucks including tax, and is very nice. The guy told me it once got fryed internally, so they had to replace a bunch of stuff, and my guess is that the replacements are better than the original parts, and the craftsmanship is better than original. I say this because they probably have to live up to a certain quality standard...
