Thanks, however I was looking at the morror vinyl alternative earlier, but basically a company that sells them told me that this type of chrome-like vinyl will only last for a couple years or so, before it loses its mirror fx...That's why I was gonna go for a more permanent thing such as perspex...

My first choice would be actual chroming, but "do-it-yourself" chrome painting doesnt really turn out any good, and professional chroming is just too expansive...

I know some of you have used mirror perspex to cover the body of the guitar, and was wondering if anybody knows a way to apply the mirror perspex finish to a les paul style carved top. Can it be bent??

I just had a look on the RMC website and nearly fainted at their prices! Riiiiiiiip off....

I think your question should be which bridge can i get saddles for. Bear in mind you probably won't be able to get them for the schaller roller bridge. As long as the bridge is standard nashville sized you can get saddles to fit.

I think tonepros ones are ok, as are gotoh's bridges.

Someone posted a thing about tonepros bridges being gotoh bridges with set screws anyway. so might be cheaper to get one of those?

See, the thing is that I was going to buy a tom from graphtech, they already come with the ghost saddles, and there are both the tonepros nashville type and the schaller roller (on which the saddles dont move sideways, but it's still available as an option). So my question should have probably been: which tom performs best between the nashville tonepros and the schaller roller?

Speaking of TOM's, can anybody compare the regular ABR-1 type tom vs the Schaller roller type for me, please? I'm about to install a ghost tom on a custom les paul-ish guitar, and I'm very familiar with the ABR-1 (which I have on my other lp's) and love it in terms of performance, but I like the roller look better and never dealt with one..Thoughts?

I tried a schecter with rmc saddles and just went.... hummmm... whatever.

All my guitars have piezo's. Of the ones i've used the ghost is the best sounding (with the preamp!) but also the most expensive. I am working on reverse engineering the ghost preamp cous i do think its a bit of a rip off. but hey.

The LRbaggs and fishman ones are worth a look, but you can only by em as a whole bridge. which is a pain.

I want to put a transducer pick up system on a custom les paul type of guitar, but I'm not sure if it's going to be a Ghost Tonepros TOM, a Ghost Schaller TOM or RMC saddles on a tonepros.

Thoughts?? What would you recommend?

I've heard that RMC are supposed to sound better than Ghost, but they're only available in gold finish, and they would look terrible on the guitar..

Sounds more like a Tom Anderson Atom with a 25 inch scale neck...

I believe the Atom has a set in mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard, while the guitar I'm talking about has a bolt on maple neck with ebony fingerboard. Besides that - and this is a matter of personal taste - the Atom body shape is totally uncool..

The thing is that I'm a big les paul fan (I have a few great lp's), but I'd like to have a versatile guitar with the look and feel of a les paul, but not necessarily with its fat tone..something between a les paul and a strat with humbuckers. What would you suggest?

The simplest solution might be for a Les Paul shape, which will give you the look & feel, but with a maple neck & ash/alder/poplar body...add some coil splitting humbuckers & you'll have the shape & feel plus a strats tonal properties...well, almost.

Yeah, but what's the difference in terms of tone between 6 on one side vs 3+3? Also, how would a maple neck work with a les paul body in practical terms?? Would the guitar sound brighter orould it preserve the les paul fat tone??

newbie here, my name is Edo, nice to meet you all.

I'm about to order my first custom built guitar: it's going to be a sort of les paul copy, but I was thinking about a bolt on maple neck with ebony fingerboard, just because it's easier to set up/adjust on my own. Do you think is that going to affect the sound in a bad way? The body is going to be in Khoya moghany, and the guitar will have a humbucker on the bridge and a p90 on the neck.

Also, I'd rather have the 6 tuning machines on one side, rather than 3+3. How would that work?

And finally, as far as the scale, I know les pauls are 24 3/4" and strats are 25,5". I'd like to go somewhere in between, to get a midway string tension. Thoughts?
