  1. resistors work to keep the current controlled, i think? either way thats not the problem im having, the issue is the battery, im using the right resistors and LED's, thanks.
  2. Well in the pack of the resistors it does not say what kind they have, it onyl says its a multi pack of 1/4 resistors and im not about to spend $11 on a pack that im unsure of..lol Should i use cable with the silver colored core instead of bronze? because my dad said the bronze cable might work to hard to heat up and get the current to LED's, thus making the battery get warm hot quicker, thanks
  3. OK, i have blue LED's 3.3 forward diode voltage or w/e its called, 20 mA, my resistors are now 100 ohms 1/4watt as the LED wizard told me to use 150 ohm 1/4 watt, i could not find 150 anywhere. is that a bit better? my dad says it might be the wire, i think its the wrong kind, the core is like bronze not silver..
  4. Hmm well there is no store withing a 30 mile radius of me that sell's 150 ohm 1/4 resistors , radioshack can suck it. well now im still getting the same problem i did with the 510 ohm 1/4 watt resistors, the battery is heating up, but now it isnt as quickly, is that something i should worry about? any suggestions please help me :-/
  5. Ok, 30 views and no replies? wth...
  6. Trying using Youtube.com i think its better than google and alot more popluar
  7. You are going to have to set your neck up after you are finished, and that includes leveling frets(they will most likely be off after re-glue). Look at the main page and read through the setup process. It is a good tutorial that will explain the steps. straighten the neck, level and polish frets, check the nut clearance and adjust( about .005 clearance when strings are held at 2nd), hold string down at 1st and last fret, check string clearance at 7 or 8th fret, you can set the relief between flat-.015" (.008" is what I generally shoot for), Adjust saddles to set your action at the 12th fret(high E is usually around 3 or 4/64", and I add an extra .005" clearance to each larger string as I set them(b=+.005, g=+.010,d=+.015......etc...about 1.5/64ths difference from E to e). Don't mix up the order you set things up in. The saddles can't be set till you have the relief and nut dialed. Read the tutorial, it gives a better explanation and pictures. What if theyre leveld and fine? i mean i think it should be fine really, im getting the hiscock book tomorrow most likely the store called me and told me they had it in, so it might be in there? but if everythign looks ok i should have to touch it, and about tightening the truss rod, how much do i tighten it? but im hoping i dont have to do none of that stuff :-/
  8. Yea i know to untighten it, but when i have to retighten it, obviously i use th same tool to tighten it, but how much do i know to tighten it?
  9. Would the 510 ohm resistors that came with my blue LED's be ok to use? 1/w 10 led's power sourec 9v. thanks
  10. Thanks Mick, actually we just routed the lines, not the straightest ones in the world, but my dad is good at inventing when he doesnt have the tools, we just used a route and clamped the neck to an outside table i thought it would be a total disastor, i thought it would go through the bottom of the neck i was like :O!! but all in all im happy with the outcome of it, ill probably wire the lights tonight or tomorrow, we still gotta go grab some tightbond, by dad says he has some glue there but i rather be saef than sorry and use the tightbond. and i think we'll pickup an extra clamp or 2..we only have 2 right now..lol would you recommend the C- clamps as my best bet? are they expensive? etc. thanks Well i thoguth the fretboard is way to thin, i need to install resistors as well, and those are a little bit thicker than the cable, and even if it was just cable alone, i still would not risk routing the fretboard i think its too thin, but thats my opinion on it, i might not now much about this, but i think some people would agree with me, but thanks for the input Oh and one more thing, i would not now how to tighten the truss rod some more... or how much to tighten it, would it be a problem if i just left it like that while i re-attach it?
  11. how to route a straight line?, this is turning out to be more complex then it should be, no one told me that the truss rod the one half of the truss rod would pop up, its like arched? i think thats normal, but either way how could i route a straight line on both side of the neck? thats prett ymuch all i need so i can install everything on the neck, if someone could give me a good diagram on a previously done LED guitar project i will love you, please reply ASAP, my freboard is sitting clamped in the garage, i dont know how long it could sit away for? thanks.
  12. hmm....ok idk if you guys read or not, but i got the fretboard off ok, so next step is LED and wire positioning...does anyone think routing to tiny channels on each side of the truss rod would mess up the neck? not directly next to it but like 1/4 of an inch away from it on each side?
  13. K well i got the fretboard off, ive run into a little snag though, how do i route with LED wires, and resistors in the neck? the trus rod is weird, idk if its supposed to be squered or not, but theres that one, and another bar under it, i need lots of help so if someone could tell me how to route the wires you will be god forever, please help :'( thanks.
  14. Thanks alot for the input guys, ill try this a bit later on tonight with my dad, and wish me luck it is my first project ever, hopefully it wont get messed up :'(, fingerboard is rosewood, and the neck is maple i believe, its a jackson neck, used but basically brand new.
  15. Ok, so what can i use to take apart the fretboard from my neck, the iron i have is broken, at least the steam option(i read a tutorial it says to use steam option and leave it on section of neck for 5 mins etc.) any idea what i could use to take it apart...would a hair dryer work? blasting heat on it, or would that effect the neck or wood? etc, please reply and help me out soon guys, thanks alot!
  16. I forgot to ask one thing, how do i know what side is the positive side of the light bulb? and resistor goes on the positive side right? i just got my LED's today blue ones 3 mm, it came with some free resistors 1/4 W and its value is 510 ohm, someone told me to get 1k resistors, or are these free ones included ok? oh and the power source will be....either a 9v or 4 AA's, what do you guys think ?
  17. As some of you know im going to do LED's in a fretboard i got the wiring planned out in my head and know what i need and what to do, one thing i forgot to ask was what kind of wiring could i get? and how exactly do i make the hole from the neck pocket to the back cavity of the guitar, also is this switch ok to use for the lights, i want a more round switch possibly in black, but with a tiny light in the switch as well, heh, as all my hardware is going to be black. if you guys can scan the radioshack website im about to link you to and just pickout the wire from there and send me a link back on it and a bit of tips i would highly appreciate it, thanks http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=family
  18. Does anyone think they would offer the jackson body in white like they have HH configuration, but setup for a tune-o-matic?
  19. the body style im going for is something liek the ibanez rg321 but without the arm rest curve, im trying to find one in white if i can, doesnt have to be ibanez just one that looks liek that model, its going to a jackson 22 fret 25.5 scale neck, if someone can give me like a list of how to do a humbucker routing, like the size of it, and especially the depth because im not sure how deep it is, oh and also i dont want a FR tremolo or any kind of tremolo, im looking for a tune-o-matic brdige, so if anyone can just give me routing dimsensions, in terms i would understand , and also how far back does a neck routing go on the guitar and how deep?, oh and guys i ordered the hiscock book finally ;-) but i cant wait for it so some tips soon would be really nice, thanks
  20. I need a Jackson or ibanez style guitar body, in white, non floyd rose or tremolo routed, in the color white or no color at all, if any has any info on this please PM me asap, i cant find one anywhere with the configuration for HH 25.5 scale 22 frets, 2.25 inches wide at heel. thanks:)
  21. Hmm thanks , umm actually i thought to paint the headstock alone i could use model car paint with a air brush gun i have, would that work for the headstock alone? i plan on doing a matte finish/no gloss, im not a big fan of fingerprints all over my guitar, the only thing i have on planning glossy is a red circle with a cutout of a medic cross in the middle, on the truss rod cover.
  22. Hi guys, i would like to know what i need to use in order to paint the guitar i am going to be building, i would like to paint it white, maybe with a black outline, or not doesnt matter really, but i would like to know the tips or techniques for painting it white, and giving it a glossy finish, or matte finish, im not suer which one i want more hehe.
