Or Corian.
Cool, where can I get some Corian? Is the Graphite I bought unusable?

I have an Ibanez RG 7 string neck that is from a tremolo equipped guitar that I want use on a hardtail. I know I can use the Floyd style nut without the pressure pads but I want something a little more aesthetically pleasing. So here's what happened...I saw an Ebanol replacement nut for 6 strings at AllParts and got inspired, so I looked at Graphtech and none of their materials are big enough. So I ordered a piece of graphite stock from McMasterCarr and I'm looking at it and writing on paper with it thinking it's not what I need. Any suggestions? Maybe Brass?

By the way: cool avatar!
Does this happen when the git is not plugged in?
No, not that I can tell. Thanks on the avatar. The artist is Marco Almera.

Sympathetic vibration with one of the open strings?
Great question. My already sloppy technique has not adapted completely to the seven string.

Here's a stupid question: Does it stay in tune? I'm thinking a bad tuner. Also check the bridge for any flexing. But Perry may be correct; maybe you may not have to lower the poles but that side of the pickup?? Does the e string have a similar problem?
No. That's what is so crazy, I've changed strings, adjusted the pickups, intonation, and saddle height. I thought it may be the fret, but it's brand new and hammered in tight.

is the string old?may have lost it's tone...hard to tell by "wawawa"
Strings are pretty new as is the guitar itself.

I keep them really low on the bass side. Thanks though.

Hey guys, this has never happened before. When I strike a harmonic at the 5th fret of my low B (7-String) it makes a repetitve wah-wah-wah-wah-wah-wah sound like when you are tuning except I'm only striking the one note.

Has anyone heard of Monkeypod for solidbody wood? It's new to me and I'm quite curious

The saddles are plated forged steel and the baseplate is plated and laquered brass, so there's going to be quite a difference in the overall coloring of the bridge.
Thanks man! That makes total sense.

Perfect. Thanks much for the quick replies. Now I've gotta get some good hard wood filler ...
I convererted a 6 to a 7 string once, drilling out the holes and glueing some dowel rods the cutting them of with a flush cut hand saw worked out really well, plus your replacing wood with wood!

Hey guys. I just recieved a Gold Hipshot Hardtail Bridge in the mail yesterday. It's not as visually stunning as I expected, the saddles are coated with a gold colored substance that looks like it will rub off fairly easily. Are the saddles made from something that is fabulous for tone but not so good looking in gold?

Cool, so is the graphite I bought good? I thought maybe not since I could write on paper with it, it's like the best stuff McMaster had and listed some pretty heavy duty applications with it. I also ordered a 4 x 4 Corian sample from Dupont to make sure I got the real stuff.
