Yeah I figured.

I found an expert to do the saudering. After it's completed I will post pics and draw a diagram to show how it was done.

I know this is a lot to ask but can someone please draw me a wiring diagram on how it should be wired. It will be configured with the following:

-3 way blade style selector switch

-81/85 pickups

-PA2 gain booster

-9 volt battery connector

-1 master volume control

-1 master tone control

-"Ibanez" style stereo input jack

Here are the installation instructions you get when of ou buy the EMG KFK (Kerry King) pickup set . These are **NO WHERE** to be found on the Internet. No!...not even on the EMG web site (believe me I have looked everywhere for updated or more noob friendly instructions). The EMG site only has instructions for the ZW set and the individual 81/85.

I will remove the ground to the spring claw all together. Should I also remove the black wire that is screwed down under the middle pickup location?

A couple other questions. In my other thread (that apparently has been hijacked..LOL!) you mentioned that you have yours installed "ungrounded". What do you mean?

Also, I have read elsewhere to *NEVER* EVER ground to the spring claws because it will generate noise and buzz. Can you please elaborate?

When I was deconstructing I noticed that there was in fact a ground soldered to the spring claw.

That sounds simple enough to transfer the wires. But how do I know which poles on the Ibanez jack are which? I didn't think to take note during deconstruction. If I guess and wire them wrong will it blow up the battery or the pickups?

I am in the process of installing the hardware from the KFK set into my RG570. Here's what was done:

-totally "deconstructed" the 570 (that is, removed all vol/tone pots/5 way switch/input jack/pickups/all wiring)

-installed the pickups and wiring

-installed a 3 way blade style pickup selector switch

-removed tone pot as the gurus on this forum advised

-install the gain booster and wiring in the tone pot location

So, it will have a 3 way selector, 1 master volume and the gain booster, NO tone knob.

Here's the problem. The input jack that came with the kit is attached to the battery thingee but does not fit the guitar! Just look at the picture. It requires a wider hole in the guitar body. The picture also shows the original input jack taken out of the guitar (notice how long and narrow it is as compared to the KFK input jack?!

What now?? Time for drilling?? Please Help!!

I see now that he doesn't even have 2 sets of vol/tone pots (correct term?). But if that's the case then why would the EMG KFK set include all of that extra hardware? It confuses me.

So now I have a decision to make. Either do what you did on your Warlock (but with only 1 battery), or keep the tone pot and install the gain booster (probably drill a hole in the input jack cavity). Hmmm, decisions, decisions. Btw, you the man! Thanks again! I'll let you know what I did and post the results with pics.

I see what you mean now westhemann...only 1 extra hole is needed then for the gainbooster. Although, I am still disappointed that it is not possible to router out the rear cavity and install the entire kit like it was meant to be. Oh well.

I disagree respectfully. My RG570 has very little cavity space and surely not enough space for more holes for the 2nd set of vol/tone knobs and gain booster. But I would appreciate if you could send me pics of what you have done on yours. Thanks.

Hi, this is my first guitar project ever. I have an Ibanez RG570 which has 3 pickups, a 5 way pickup selector, 1 volume knob and 1 tone knob.

I bought an EMG KFK pickup set (Kerry King's signature pickup set). It comes with EMG 81 and 85 pickups, 2 volume knobs and 2 tone knobs (1 for each pickup), PA2 gain booster, and a 9 volt battery hookup thingee.

My dilemma is: To properly install the full KFK set properly it needs 5 holes in total (4 for vol/tone knobs, 1 for gain booster) and room in the back for the 9 volt battery but my ibanez only has 2 holes (vol/tone knobs). It appears the guitar will need some major routering and drilling to make it have the 5 holes needed for installation.

My question is: Is it possible to make the back cavity hole bigger or make more holes to add this kit? How hard is it? Can you point me to directions. I've done my searching and reading on these forums but I am too noob'ish to know what to look for and don't understand what I am reading. I am at the point where I think I will have to just to keep the 2 existing holes and not even install the 2nd set of vol/tone knobs or the gain booster. What a dissapointment!! :-( :-( :-(
