The amount of extended range instruments lately is mind boggling! That black Limba looks absolutely amazing! Is the ebony FB going to be stained black or left streaky like it is naturally?
-
To fix the headstock problem, I'd do something like they have on the Moderne where there are pegs that the strings are rerouted with to get to the tuners properly.
Not really a great picture but if you look closely you can see where the string hits a peg and gets redirected evenly.

Whoa, nice guitar you have there! Too bad about the fire but at the same time, what luck that you now have all those tools. Try to stop hurting your hands so once you finish this one you can play it! Great work Kenny, keep it up!
-
Just curious, why did you decide to forgo the truss rod? Anyway, that should be one fine beginner instrument!
-
Holy @#$%! that's a HUGE neck! Cool looking though, can't wait to see the body with that.
-
Let me rephrase my question- How did you get one in there and make it work like a theremin? I dont see the metal pieces normally used on one in the guitar.
-
How did you get a theremin in there? I've always wanted to try that.

I knew a new camera would do you well! Look at that beauty! Man am I jealous! Good work, let's see this baby with some electronics!
-
hey man, we all come across the bad times of building- i've still yet to complete a build! most of the work I've done has been wrong and I wasted materials due to being hasty and mistakes. But it happens, that's normal with building, you make mistakes, you get angry, you get frustrated. Don't give up, take a break, let yourself relax then come back to it.
Please don't stop building, all your work has inspired me to keep going and try to get my ones finished.
-
Simply amazing- that is one of the coolest inlays I've EVER seen!! This should be one interesting bass once you're finished- nice work!
-
DUDE! That is one pretty guitar! Nice work! Everything flows together so well, the wood parts were perfectly selected. I've been waiting to see this one finished for a while and I am proud to say I really like it. Great job!
-
Just so you know, I'm constantly watching your builds and if you didn't do the step by step stuff I wouldn't be as interested. I only post when I have something constructive or helpful to say so I'm more of a background participant.
Anyway, your constant building of LPs makes me want to create my own! Only thing I'd have to recommend for you is to get a better camera because your pictures are sometimes a bit dark or a little hard to see.

Looking good! The electronics holes look strangely placed to me but if you like where they are then its good. It'll look great oiled I think.
-
Could you possibly post pictures of it? I'd love to see what this thing looks like.
-
Excellent tutorial Erik, that will help me loads with future building. Can't wait to see your next project.

Are those tuner holes lined up? Because the way it seems in all those pictures is that they go off the wrong way.
what do yo mean?
What I mean is it seems as though they are not in line with the nut and therefore an angle at the nut will be present, and the strings wont be going straight to the tuners.

Neither did I! I just found the name funny.

60-2 now, I guess TheIRS, Killemall8, and myself will have to start a company that designs guitars for people with bad taste!
Bad Taste Guitars. I like the sound of that!

WARNING! Dissenting opinion time! I like it!! Would like it more if the bottom part was rounded yet i still think its cool. But don't worry if anyone likes it or not-- if YOU like it that's what matters! Especially if the guitar is for yourself then you shouldn't worry too much about everyone else. Just enjoy building it.

Mockups # 1 and 5 look best IMO. Though I also think you should go for a lighter finish since the maple and wenge look so amazing together right now without any sort of stain. The pickguard is cool, and I think it blends well but you might not want to cover up any of that pretty wood.
Truly a beautiful guitar whatever way you do it as long as it isn't one of those thick solid color plastic coats!
-
Matt-
I'm really glad you decided to stick with this design, it looks amazing! Man, if i could get me one of those as a 6 string... (i'm not much of a 7 or 8 player).
Excellent Matt!! I so can not wait till you finish this one!
-
Nah, I think it would be fine without an armrest curve. Nice design though, not really that PRS-ish and I like it for that. You make a ton of cool guitars really quickly, keep it up!

Progress! Didn't work on it all last week cause I've been sick, still am a little bit.. But I got to get some work done today; here are the pictures.
Headstock Back Yeah, there is a cut in there, I don't know what I should fill it with to make it look good though..
Whoa! That's one SWEET neck!! I'm so gonna make a neckthrough one day. Excellent looking guitar!
