  1. Sorry, I didn't know you were female. As far as the ovation style agile acoustics, no I didn't play them as I have never like composite bowl backs. Just a matter of preference.

nyjbkim: I would say spend the time to go out there if you are looking into getting a guitar. I would never buy somehing i had not played. Granted it is 20 minutes to rondo from me.

  2. hey guys

    I have a dillion 500x DR500XI-ds.jpg

and use dunlop strap locks. I hate how far forward on the strap lock the strap sits, so i was thinking of counter-sinking the reciever for the strap lock with a bit just big enough for the reciever to fit in the hole and just have it sticking out enough for me to attach a strap. good idea? bad idea? will this weaken the upper horn at all? Thanks

  3. As far as your winged idea goes, its seems to me like it would be possible to do 4 strings straight and 4 fanned, etc by slotting the two sections seperately and then gluing the two halves together. I guess it would be extremely difficult to get the fret slots to line up perfectly and getting the fretwire to bend exactly might be a hassle but it is definately doable without a CNC.

  4. I was thinking about this the other day.... the driver in the speaker moves the cone with ELECTROMAGNETIC OSCILATIONS. Wouldn't it make sense for the pickups to then pick up those osillations (which they are designed to sense) and not the actual sound produced by the cone. Cause decent quality potted pickups should not be succeptile microphonics on a sufficient level to reproduce sounds. just my two cents.

btw, this means that it would be possible to prototype this mod without taking apart your guitar.

  5. yo, I went and played one of those agile swamp ash lp's last week. Rondo music is 20 minutes from my school. The majority of their LPs pretty nice, the swamp ash ones however were horribly finished. You could feel the grain when you run your hand over the finish. All the LPs I saw were proper dimensions btw.

  6. hey guys,

One of the guys at my frat just got a behringer gmx212. Its a 2x50 watt modeling amp. When you hit the channel switch footswitch there is a really annoying delay between when you hit the pedal and the other channel kicks in. Do any of the other behringer users have this problem and can it be solved?

  7. One of the guys at my frat has an awesome Japanese Contemporary Strat with the non-rear router, locking fender trem (i mention it to see if anyone has info on the trem, cause it rocks). Anyway, the guitar is all black and has those glow in the dark stars kids put on their ceilings over the fret marker dots, they make em in circles too. its cheesy, but i'm not a fan of light-up guitars to begin with. my 2 cents.

  8. By far... electronics and instrumentation. My professor dronning on about diodes, transistors, and op-amps does nothing but make me wanna go home and re-wire stuff. I have some pretty cool ideas for "intelligent" switching that i'll post if i ever implement 'em this summer.

btw, we just got a new tv in the apartment. Someone threw it out a pretty nice TV cause the power button broke off. I took it apart and soldered in a pair of leads going to a radioshack momentary SPST and it works like new. :D

  9. hey guys,

I wanna run headphones off of my multi effects pedal, but it only has a mono out. Can I just split the one hot coming off the pedal to the two hots on the headphones? Thanks

btw, I did promise to prototype the sustainer mod this past weekend and get back to everyone with my results. But after playing around with a fernandes guitars at GC thought better of it. I guess I was expecting something else from the system. SOrry.
