Sure no problem!
And any more you feel like making I would be more than happy to put up there
Thanks! infact i just made another one....... not as good and i cant remember what you call those things so i called it royal.... anyway here you are....
-
the originals are here on this site...
And now so is yours!
i made the last hearts smaller as people suggested so could you update the one on your site ?
-
Oh wow. Yeah, not a heart guy, but where did you get the template drawing? I couldn't find it on the VDL site. That's cool.

Hey all,
after seeing the inlay template/drawings done by VDL guitars i decided you modify one and customize it....... its pretty simple but none-the-less its another design for people to use...... what you all think?
-
i think the inlays suit the guitar...... nice work dude!
-
That's a real nice guitar... but I like em all smashed up and reliced
My dreamguitar is an Ibanez JS2CH!
A couple of years ago a friend of mine got hold of a guy who sold 4 of them for $7500 each
I think I would be better off buying a JS1000 and have it chromed/nickeled at guns girls and guitars (or something like that).
Anyone ever dealt with them?
nope i havent.... but im thinking of makiung a replica of a ibanez. just dont know what model yet......
-
just curious what is your dream guitar you wanna buy?
Rich

You know the tiny eye and nose holes....... how will they be done? wud they be done by drillin little holes and filling them with a mixture of glue and fretboard dust/shavings?
Exactly! I always fill the holes (and contours of the inlays) with black dust and put a little drop of superglue on it. It will soak the dust and will become very hard. And after that just sand the surface.
Wanna see the fretboard in real, made from real MOP shell? It's nog finished yet...
Thats sweet!....... now all i gotta do is find sumwhere that sells the woods for body and neck and fretboard in the Uk.....
-
How many people have actully donated to your dream guitar fund??
Rich
..... None......... *sniff*
-
Hey thats a nice tutorial! .... i got a question about that skull inlay you gave a link to...

kpnutz,
You should be able to get your hands on some nice pieces of wood in the UK. If you got the time and accept the fact that you ARE gonna make errors and **** up some things, I'd definately recoomend to build your own guitar.
LGM Guitars is right, if you have the time, it's cheaper to build one yourself.
im outta school ... ( 17 ) i dont go to college ( didnt work out ) wanted to go to another college to do a guitar building course ( too far away ) ...... so i have all the time on my hands... im also trying to get a job at a airspray shop ( spraying helmits, stuff like like u know all that airbrush art ) which cud help moneywise.... and when spraying the guitar etc... but yea i have all the time on my hands and i know ill mess up... ( im the one laughing at my dad cos he's messing up a speaker cab were building.... a 4x12 by the way ) ... lol...... anyway yea.... thanks for the tips... anymore? a question about making a neck.. i looked a tutorial on here and its building a neck with 3 pieces stuck together.... u know if i dont want the middle one to be a different colour can i just get the same colour as the other pieces of wood ( what a newbie question )
Chris.

kpnutz,
where are you located?
hey,
im in the Uk for starters.... and im located im Rotherham.....
also jeremy id prefer not to send for anything from ebay from overseas......
-
you could use maple for the body
i presume you want a light coloured wood that can be sunburst like kurts, maple would do the trick.
would you suggest trying to make a neck? making the body and neck my self would dramatically drop the price and be more what im looking for...
-
You CAN save money building your own guitar if you're willing to cut a lot of corners on materials. If you want to do it first rate you're going to end up spending as much (or *MORE*) that you would just buying a guitar off the shelf, *ESPECIALLY* if you're doing a replica.
I think most of the benefit of building a guitar is the satisfaction of building a guitar.
what sutible woods are there that i can get cheaply? ive tried alder and ash but no look as they say that there ( the alder anyway ) is as rare as hens teeth
-
hey all,
since im having trouble trying to find some decent wood where i live im gonna have to i think send of for a piece of alder pre-cut... ( only routed for neck )... anyway.... i was just wondering what cost people nmormal play building their own guitars? am i right in thinking its suposed to save money or not? heres is a list of a few things i want to get to build a pretty much exact replica of kurt cobains guitar.... which at the moment is pricing up pretty hefty..
Alder Jaguar Body - £138.60
Neck 22 fretts unfinised with binding - £125.40
Jaguar Pickguard - £37.20
Control plates - £8.30
£8.30
£8.30
Jaguar Tremolo/locked - £33
Bridge - £28.90
thats already priced up to £388 and i have even added bits like knobs, jack inputs, pickups, paint, etc etc..

Was the spelling mistake intentional???
lol........ thats what i had to go back and redo all the first ones for..... im just bad at spelling that word.... ah well.... it really wud be a 'custom' logo wudnt it
-
Unfortunately the resolution is too low
Higher Resolution means a better finished product.
Yours needs to be much much higher to make it work. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Basically if you can zoom in on the image and still see jagged lines it wont work too well.
I suggest you PM me if you want some help
ok ....... ive tried doing somethign to another one of my logo's is this one ok? and surely things will become jaggier once u zoom in becos ur seeing the actual pixels? anyway have a look at this one....
-
Would it be possible for anyone to do a test one? i mean at the moment i dont have the nescercary equipment to do it and wud like to know what they look like ( or one of ur choice, may the custom looking one )..
-
hey all,
as i was reading the other topics about logo's i decided to have a go at making my own.... i made 4 diff cols anyway heres the link.. i dont know if they can be used or not you'll have to tell me but i have made them transparent ...( note if u have i.e explorer 6 or higher u may need to resize them )
