Appart from that, the stain need to get into the wood, and when you put the body into the water, it's going to get wet. It's not like a normal swirl that it has a base colour.

Now it looks much better.

On Martin Kotch´s book its a section that shows how to build a neckthru guitar.

Equal, take a look on the forum, there are a lot of projects that will help you to get the info you need.

Yeah i totally agree with you I was gonna make a new body from the start i was just trying to figure out a way to salvage it for perhaps another build, like it was mentioned above ill perhaps use it for a neckthru build in the future. It just looked stupid the way the bridge was now its gonna be centered which will look waaaaaaay better

Put your guitar body on something like a record turntable, turn it up to high speed, and drop some stain on, sort of like that kids art toy.

I had that idea for a swirl also.

Put the guitar on a spin base and throw the stain onto the guitar, and there you go (if it works )

That will be a nice idea on a flamed top or something like that.

I think that you should paint different zones with different colors, and you will get a "swirl" effect.

Yeah, it's crooked. Maybe you can glue a piece of wood onto the drilled neck zone, so you can drill again over it.

Lizards tend to like being camoflaged, so something close in color to the ziricote would be cool. Just a thought.

Ibanez has an RG that has a brown mirror inlay. That deppends on the angle that you look it, it's brown or whiteish.

That guitar's the Ibanez RG2570 IIRC.

It loots too medieval IMHO. I think that you should put the ebony stripes and change that wood (black limba?) you have there. A nice replace can be purpleheart or lacewood.

i think i am just going to try it in normal flamed maple first, but not going to inlay it till i am happy - getting some acrylised flamed maple would be a good solution

Wez, why don't you try lacewood for the lizard inlay? Lacewood has that grain that's like that lizard skin.

I didn't understand very well what you want to do.

You have to route the neck pocket to fit it, and if you someday want to go back to the original neck, you can put a piece of wood there, to have the original depth in it.

The desing it's interesting.

The idea of the extended fretboard over the pickups gives a nice touch to the bass.

I think Jon, that you'll have to route the sides of the fretboard but I don't know how easy it will be with the radius done.

Then you can use the radius block again to radius the binding on the sides.

Here's a thought: use wood. And titebond. Which won't stick to metal.

I did that on a neck that I was sanding and I reached to the truss rod. It works.
