  1. happy with how that looked i decieded to make a ruff card board shape in full size to see where i was heading ,not sure if others do this but i like the idea of choping up cardboard and getting the shape exactly how you want it before you go and butcher exspensive wood ,
  2. so that was the shape pretty much, and i stayed reasonabley close to the design only altered it a bit, i then put it into solid works which allowed me to see it in 3dimentional views so could get a idea if it was going to work or not.......
  3. ok well ive finished my first guitar which glad to say was alot of fun and i learnt so much from it,but not enuf to satisfiy me so i decieded to build another to build up my skills ,this is pretty much the same as the last one i build just a little more involved and i used my own design this time ,not wanting to be like the average joe i went for something a little crazy and way out ,i think metal matt could apreciate this one ,has taken a fair while to do but theres been no rush on it just plodding along so im not going to go into heaps of details as you guys cetainly know how to build a guitar ,im soo impressed with the bilds on this forum i only wish i could get up to the quaility of what others are doing ,how ever im learning alot and playing around with lots of ideas , i call this one the BAT, becasue the theme of it was spose to be a bat like shape, ull see as we go along. so first i designed my shape took a few days to come up with something i liked but was happy on the design i chose, i took influences from bc rich guitars mainly as thats what i like and also play heres the scribbley first scketch on paper::::
  4. yes that was my mistake the way i drilled the holes they wouldnt fit well the rite way round,no drama tho can still tuner it fine,i have to say tho im very very impressed with grover tuners ,a1 quailty there they hold the tuning for ages ,pretty happy bout that ,
  5. thanks guys been a while since i been on here but im working on a few new projects probably post up one soon ,this guitar is now for sale if anyones interested email me
  6. ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA well have to say im pretty stoked right now, after the months of work and all the uncertainlty about doing this project,it was well worth it !!!! firstly ive learnt alot of stuff doing this i never knew there was so much to guitars, but now i do may be interested in doing another if the time and money are there as this has taken me a good few months and well over 1000 dollars but heres the kicker after putting it together and wiring it up exactly how the wiring diagram said,i pluged it in and it work first go straight off the bat that was great ,and if that wasnt enuf i havnt done any adjustments yet intonation etc but it plays like 5 times better than my shop bought bc rich warlock ,i really cant get over it!!!!!!!!!!! the action is very low and smooooth ,the pick up is insane !!!!!!!!!!!!thank you seymour duncan!!!! great quailty also thank you steward mcdonald for supplying the first rate neck thru neck ,prasies to them all round ,and cheers to you guys who offered advice when i requested, so heres more picks ill get some better ones shortly after i finsih it off a bit more completely , have to make a wiring cover and get it set up properly but on the hole for a first project guitar ever made by myself i think i done ok ,what you guys think ????oviusly not as super as what has been done on these forums in the past but i think in my own way its pretty good ????????? maybe i should enter it in the guitar of the month??????????hahahhahahhaha yeah like this would win that, ive checked those guitars that go into that there just mind blowin !!!!!!!1 well enuf burble heres pics
  7. sadly it looks alot better in the pics than it does in real life!!!!!
  8. and fianlly after months of work heres the painted thing
  9. and heres the crazy set up i made for painting this thing
  10. k well finally got a bit of paint on it,didnt quite go as well as i hoped tho had a lot of sink back and joins showed up pretty bad but ahhw well still looks ok for a first try thats it all sanded ready to go
  11. ahhhhh i seee thank you well then its all good!!! shouldnt be to hard to wire this up then so now i can just concertrait on geting the body lookin all nice and pretty hahahaha cheers for clearing that up for me mate
  12. could someone please look at this wiring diagram for me and tell me if this will work for me ,also what does split mean????im going to use a seymour duncan invader high output humbucker pick up cheers any one im not to sure about the wiring
  13. so thats about it for the moment i have to wait a good week for the primer to properly cure before i can really start getting the little bits fixed up and heading it towards geting the paint ,but comeing along ok
  14. so after several coats heres where i was up to,not that happy about it theres heaps of flaws in my sanding and little chips and furry wood bits and little holes and just stuff that looks nasty, how ever i should be able to fix it all now that i can actually see what needs done, its a bit hard to tell whenits just bare wood,
  15. then after a big sand up which i thought i had done an ok job on it but i hadnt lol as i soon found out ,so thought id get some primer on this thing and see where we were at with it,
  16. here i managed to drill holes from the pick up cavity into each othere cavity,ie the jack hole and the control hole and the bridge post hole, then made a small slot nect to each hole so the wires can runn in them as the pick up is fairly tight where it sits, certainly getting there now!!!!
  17. thanks very much for the kind comments much appreciated,as this is the first time ive ever done anything like this ,not really expecting too much like ill just be stoked if it works and i can play it, so yeah ive decided i wont be using a neck pick up,a few reasons 1 i hardly use a neck pick when playing, 2 it would be a real pain trying to route the slot for it 3 makes the wiring even harder(i still dont really understand how it all works yet) 4 i like the look of the humbucker and the other pick up i have is a rail one so sorta looks different any way that been decided im moving on to the next thing which was fitting a control space,ie drilling a huge hole!!!!!!!!!!!! have to say that the router is an awsum tool!!!!!!!!! really enjoying using it,i managed to get a cavitiy drilled out just how i wanted with the router and i didnt have to even use a drill !! so was stoked about that heres a shot of what i did
