well i done it again, i acquired a takamine gx 100 project, from what i hear takamine only made these in the early 80s and didnt make many solid body guitars at all except around then, so they are supposedly pretty scarce i guess, sadly this ones been butchered, has been attacked with a band saw, they cut the horns so instead of an explorer shape its now almost a bow tie shape, i actually kinda like it, but theres no weight anymore, hell theres no wood, kinda has a flying v feel to it sitting down without the extra wood anymore, and they stripped it clean, its just wood and frets, thats it, ok, i went fle marketing, theres this little old guy that has a stall with a bunch of old guitars and parts, thats why i love going there, anyways, he just gave it to me, the only other problem is the neck is cracked at the headstock under the nut and im presuming where the two woods were joined together to get the headstock angle, also the parts where they cut the wood are just spray painted, they didn't sand or nothing, so you can see the grain big time, it will need stripping and resanding, painting etc... but i got a unique piece of wood, i think its worth trying and saving, who knows, ok suggestions on how to fix the cracked neck, and ill try to get pics of the damage as soon as i can posted, thanks in advance, hmm once you get started on one thing you end up with several dont you hehehe anyone else have that problem?

Well, I looked in the phone book, no number for Hi Tech Coatings was listed, ok thats strange, so I drove across town to see if they had changed the name or something, sadly, they are no longer in buisness, this was about 3 years ago when i had that bug, and since then they had shut down at some point, oh well, so sorry, i rarely go to that side of town, and it was kinda outta the way anyways so i had no idea they were around no more so sorry
good luck
im sure theres someone out there that wont gouge ya

Ill keep my eye out for a good amp, Im always stumbling onto stuff, if I see anything worthy I'll see what I can do. I feel your pain, I originally had the wants, A music man eddie van halen and a mesa boogie anything, is all i wanted when i was 15, now im 23 and realized that sometimes all that great expensive gear is nice, but I am quite happy with my medicore gear I got, as for the amp. Yea 10 watts aint that much at a high vol, its rather disturbing, I'll see if I can find you a nice higher wattage and might just give it to you, christmas was good to me this year and I got a nice bonus, also got alot of stuff Im getting ready to sell, no guitar goodies, so everyone calm down, and if my garage sale is successful, Ill see what I can do for you, trust I know how you feel, 3 years ago I had tha whimpy wallet, now Im doing allright. The great thing about San Antonio Tx is theres more pawnshops here than anywhere else I have been, theres like one on every street corner so I can probably find something worthy, gimme a guesstimate if what you are after, alot of on board effects, or just something simple, I always liked the marshall valvestates, like the 40v my buddy has is a nice 12 inch 40 watt amp with a decent distortion and reverb and I see them go all the time around here for about a 100 bucks in the pawnshops. again no promises but maybe i can help out

really im just going to slap something in there and see what happens, i know many people have different opinions about many different things, and they are all opinions, im just going to try my luck, if it dont sound that great to me, ill try something else, thats why im getting into this project thing, that way im not altering a factory solder joint so that someone later can say, but these have obviously been changed when it comes to reselling something you would be amazed what people tell u when they are in the bargaining mode for the best price, i dont blame em, i probably should too.
-
too late, already figured that out, gonna have to reseal it somehow
grr
thanks

theres a good place in converse texas called hi tech coatings, they do good work, the guy that i bought my baja bug when i was into vw's had had the rear bumper cage and the tailpipes/headers powdercoated to match the body, it was a nice job too, i dunno how much they cost but i never had any rust or problems with that paintjob cause i bought it that way, i can try and look up the ph# if your interested in contacting them

dont sweat it, that guy runs those all the time on ebay, ive seen it at least 5 maybe 6 times, ive been looking for a nice neck too, but i think ill just end up getting one from brian at this rate, ebays getting ridiculous on some stuff
every now and then u can get a good deal
-
yea, guitar and violin cases are known for those tommy guns arent they, hehehe well walking into a bank with a instrument case is not advisable, seriously it isn't hehehehehehe and your right bolt necks are very convienent when it comes to transporting an instrument in minimal space, im sure you would wanna steam out your neck every time you took a trip right ???
hehehe yea right

they sell em here in san antonio for 129 brand new, but the guy orders alot of them at a time so he gets that "volume discount" he keeps some for his shop here and puts the rest on ebay, so yeah, u got a good deal, too bad you had to get gouged by the shipping but i guess overseas does that to ya
have fun with your new toy

grr i saw that same auction and for that price i had been tempted myself, but right now i have enough toys to be playing with, glad u got it, lemme know what its like cause i have seen several others on ebay and they were all around a 100 bucks, wich tells me thats probably close to what the list/retail prices are, they have another model with distortion, chorus, reverb, and delay i think, or it was a phaser/flanger i dont remember, but theres another model out there with 4 effects built in, just lemme know what you think, it might be a good inexpensive guitar

i know some guitars and basses have been made out of luthite, have any of you guys or gals played with luthite yet, what would be the benefits or drawbacks to utilizing it instead, just curious for my own knowledge
