  1. I was told by one supplier (a while back) that there was a law suite and the speedloader was taken off the market until it was settled. Musicians Friend and others liquidated there inventory of FR Discovery series guitars. I purchased one for $150.00 I wish I had got more because from what I’ve seen, that’s what you would pay for a trem system.

  2. Anybody know why speedloader trems are not to be found? And why the big push to unload speedloader equipped guitars. I have plans for a headless guitar and need a high-end trem that is going to be consonantly available. Seinberger is impossible to get. Thought the speedloader was going to be a good alternative.

    Thanks

  3. very nice (what in the heck are those little baby thingy,s) :D and i would like to know how much too thanks :D

Here is the description I included with the photos at the other sites, I am asking $1,500.00

I call it “mythical dream guitar”. It was actually inspired by a dream and features North Coast Native mythical creatures. The guitar has a unique feature. I call this my “headless-head design”. I like headless guitars but I think the majority of players would rather have something on the end of the neck. So I purchased a neck with a blank head stock. I shaped it and used it to anchor the ball end of the strings. The tuners of this headless trem system accept the bare end of the string so this works nicely. The body is basswood with curly maple veneer and a cream binding. The eyes of the figures and truss rod cover are abalone. I used a light stain with a brown edge burst and lots of lacquer for the finish. The upper bout was carved in a stylized Haida design. I tried to give it a little bit of a stressed look. Like it could have been found at an ancient shamans burial site, along with the rest of his ceremonial effects. Although it looks as if they are eating each other, in North coast Native art this commonly symbolizes the sharing of spirits. Electronics are simple, one

humbucker pickup with volume and tone controls. Strings are DR Black Beauties and add a lot to the look of the guitar. This guitar is fully functional but I built it in the hope that someone will add it to their collection. It was created to be displayed. I have learned form this project and plan to do more in this style.

  4. I agree, anything slightly "wacky" or different from the norm, no matter how good or bad it is will only have a very select fan base. That's why artists have exhibitions, so that people that like that particlular artist can see a collection of their work....& often several artists with similar styles will exibit together.

It is only recently that luthier's & effects makers such as Zachery Vex, James Trussart & Tony Zemaitis have found their products becoming mainstream because they were seen as boutique & slightly off-the-wall....unfortunately for you they're relatively conservative. :D I think that you need to create a buzz, a bit of hype. Maybe send it into a guitar magazine for a review or even just some photo's & a write up about yourself & the instruments. I'm sure they'd love to feature something a little different.

Yea, thats a good idea, didn't think of that. Thanks.

  5. I recently finished a very unique project. I built it with intention of selling it to a serious collector who thought they had seen everything. I have tried ebay, twice. I have shown it on most of the more popular guitar forums not that this one isn’t popular but targeted sites for guitar enthusiast. I’m not getting to the people I want. does anyone have suggestions of where to list this thing? thanks.

  6. I would like to submit my guitar for the May guitar of the month contest. This is the second guitar I have built. I'm a wood sculptor who happens to love guitars. I have wanted to do this for a long time so, glad to finally get it done. As far as components, nothing exceptional. I do like this no-name headless trem and would like to find more. Even though it's fully functional I made this guitar as an art piece. I would like to see a collector get this thing and display it and maybe play it occasionally. I named it "Mythical Dream Guitar" It was actually inspired by a dream. I live in Alaska and am fascinated with NorthWest Native art. The carving is a stylized Haida design. Although it looks like they are eating each other, this typically represents the sharing of spirits or the ability to change shape.

  7. Hi 70sguy

Here's my latest blog entry on my build - Guitar Build - First Ergonomic Guitar Build Nears Completion.

I'm curious - you're looking for a new trem for..? Are you looking to replace the existing one or are you looking at a new build? Maybe you should start a thread about it. :D I'd love to hear more about your build as well as any future plans.

    Regards,

    Rob

It's a new build. This one is going to be special. It is headless but in a differnt way. lots of custom touches. I will post a photo when its far enough along. This is going to be my best yet!
  8. I'm working on a solid body project and plan to apply abalone purfling along the top binding. I'm new to this and not sure about how to deal with tight curves. The suppliers say that you break it for curves. Do I need to miter the breaks? I don't understand.

  9. The only vendor I've seen that sells these is Reid and Son Violin Company on ebay - http://stores.ebay.com/Reid-and-Son-Violin...3QQftidZ2QQtZkm. You could try contacting them to see about availability.

There are other sources for headless hardware as well. Here's a list I put together a while back - Headless Guitar Resources for the Guitar Builder. BTW - I did not list them because of their inability to provide any information on the product.

BTW - What's your impression of the bridge?

    Regards,

    Rob

I like it OK. It stays in tune and seems to be built good, except the casting of the frame where the trem spring anchors looks like a weak point. Time will tell. I also like the fact that it takes standard strings not double end. I paid the same price as music yo advertises for a steinberger R trem and would rather have that but at the time this was available and the steinberger wasn't.

  10. I'm building a headless guitar and need a steinberger bridge system. The only place I can find to purchase one is musicyo.com I'm looking for an r-trem system. they are always back ordered on that site. last I checked they said they might have them by July. Does anyone know of another supplier? How about other than steinberger?
