Wipe on is easy? Have you tried to sand and polish after a wipe on? It's no walk in the park.

Cutting the saturated veneer would be a lot harder but I can see where it would be a lot easier to get a sure fit. I will sometimes saturate brittle veneers with watered down wood glue for fine, detailed pieces to make them less frustrating to cut. Just make sure you clamp the veneer flat and leave it to dry a lot longer than you think it will take to dry.

I'll just finish it off with a coat of Glidden flat white latex (bought a new roller JUST for this guitar) and those cute purple and yellow flower contact paper decals.
Yikes!!!
Just think about it, that 150 degree oven is like leaving your prized guitar in a car on a hot august day. You could be brought up on charges of abuse.

I've done a little marquetry inlayed into the surface but unfortunately I've lost the pictures on my hard drive and the guitar is on loan to a cameraless friend.
On a fretboard I would back the veneer with more veneer and saturate them with epoxy or CA. You would have to radius the FB first and contour the inlay to the board to avoid sanding through the thin inlay. You could treat the whole FB with glue but the contrast between the finished and unfinished woods could look good too.

Lots of good info here.

I was on a cable hookup for years until I desided that my use just didn't justify the expense. For that matter since I moved a couple of months ago I don't even have cable TV and haven't missed it. I'm sure I'll hook up the cable TV come winter.
Even with my 50k speed limit I really don't mind waiting for pix to load... within reason of course. A little compression is a good thing folks.

Good lord no. This town doesn't have enough people to make up a small Chicago suburb.
This is in Sioux Falls SD, a town of about 140K with a generous count. Every year they put on this "jazz" fest with not a jazz musician to be found but a fantastic lineup of blues. Pretty good feat for a little town in the lutefisk belt.

Buddy Guy is worth almost any price to see. His shows are amazing!!!
as for KWS, check his website http://kennywayneshepherd.net/
KWS is not someone that gets me all that excited but well worth walking a half mile to see free. But Buddy on the other hand... Any price would be worth it but when he's playing next door for free I'm just about pissing my pants.
This is a yearly two day event and they always have some major names playing. I can't park any closer than my house and if I took one of the shuttle busses I would have to drive a couple of miles and walk twice as far.

Kenny Wayne will be playing at a free concert Saturday night just a few blocks from my house. Friday night is Buddy Guy. Life is good.

Afraid? Am I wrong thinking that you have to work kinda hard to get the boot?
-
Well, I know nothing but what concerns me is that it has "few knots". I could be wrong but aren't knots in neck wood a bad thing?
-
For $20 bucks you get a rather poor sanding block and some sand paper. I think you could come up with a better system on your own.

Thanks to all the mods, you've had a tough workload lately. You can expect a little extra something in your pay check this week.

You're new here, you'll get used to it.
Then again maybe not, I haven't.

I have a pair of Holdsworth's pups in a DC127. I'm pretty happy with them, warm and clear. I'd buy them again in a minute if Bill Lawrence ever quits making pickups.

Hell, I knew a guy who cut out his body with a hack saw blade wrapped with tape for a handle. It didn't turn out half bad.

Alright, Solid color it is. Anyone have some suggestions on what color? I wanted to do a Pearlescent finish, but I don't have a spray booth set up,nor do I have the money to set one up. Sooo.... I was wondering if they had that stuff in rattlecans.

ahh well im afraid its not a fender bass here besides. It needs some fag burn marks and strippers undies stuck on with superglue.
Strippers panties shouldn't need glue.
-
Have you seen all the work some people do to simulate wear and age on parts and finish? This one is pre-reliced.

The do-dad from Stew-Mac looks neat but I wonder how much it will affect the sound. When it's right this is a really wonderful sounding instrument. This was made back when Gibson seemed to still be motivated by things other than the bottom line alone.
I have that do-dad installed in an old Wurlitzer acoustic and not only did it bring the top down flat and fixed the intonation problem, it also made a nice sounding instrument into a great sounding one. Breedlove puts them into all of their guitars.
Edit: I just saw that this is an old Gibson so you might want to think about the vintage thing but there is a bridge doctor that does not need holes drilled or anything sacreligious like that.

Before you jump to conclusions you might stop and think that maybe no one knows the answer to your question.
