It probobly allready exists, dont know though?!?! Stew Mac doesnt carry some hardware in black for some reason
-
......One thing to keep in mind though is I really won't be able to host any mp3 files at this point in time so we need to find a place where people can upload their music.
A place to upload as much music as you want. And if the website is not lying, its all free!

I never tried, but it looks kick ass! I like how the did the intonation adjustment, offset allen screws adjusted from the top as apposed to the front. Looks like it would be much easier to intonate. And from the picture, it looks as though you can shim each key, if you needed to for a different radius. It has the locking deal like the Tone Pros, but alot cheaper than Tone Pros. If I can find one in black, its sold!!
-
That sg just dont look right with it being carved. It looks cool as hell, nice craftsmenship, but just dont look right.
-
I understand what everyon's saying, not trying to step on Brians toes by doing this. I just figured It would be interesting to see who would be interestd in the first palce before it went any further. So far it looks like it might not be a realistic idea.
-
If its still up for grabs, whats the scale??

This poll is a result of two threads that were started, concerning this forum pulling together for one project guitar made from scratch.
Check these two threads for details and thoughts that have allready been made about this idea, then vote and post more thoughts and ideas here.

This Poll is only to see whos interested, If all goes well I'm sure more polls will follow.

not to be a jack ass, but shims are for raising, not lowering
The only thing you can really do is snad or file, fileing might be the better approach
but its my 2 cents, spend it if you like

Lets try to break this all down, If I miss anything, please add what I missed!
BODY
1. Body route
2. Body top
3. Body stain / Paint / whatever
4. Binding for body??
5. Inlay for Body??
6. Body finish, poly, nitro, whatever
7. Electronics
8. Assembly, knobs, bridge, etc
NECK
1. Neck roughing, rasps, spokeshaves, etc
2. Neck smoothing, sandpaper
3. Truss rod install
4. Fret board install
5. Inlays
6. Frets
7. Binding for neck ???
8. Headstock logo "PG.com" or somthin
9. Neck / Headstock, oil, dye, finish, whatever
10. Assembly, tuning keys, string retainers, nut, etc.
11. Put the neck on the body, string it up, set action, etc, etc
by my count thats 19 jobs that can be divied up. We could probobly break it down even further, but that will cause the shipping price to go up. But if everyone chips in, that shouldnt be much of a problem.
Then we got to consider all the options: Once again add to, if I miss something
1. body shape
2. P-U configuration
3. bridge, TOM or Trem (any machinists in the house, that could be job #20)
4. Switches, knobs, accesories (afterburner, PA2, EKG)
5. P-U brand, generic or some name brand, maybee someone in the forum can wind some up (make that 21 jobs to divy up)
6. To pick guard or not to pick guard (someone could make a pick guard, #22?)
7. Type of top if any
8. Color or colors
9. Finish - stain, solid, material, etc
10. Scale length
11. # of frets
12. Type of frets and size; plain, ss- jumbo, medium
13. headstock shape / angle
14. # of strings
15. Type of tuners
16. Type of string reatiner
17. Wood options for body, neck, fingerboard.
18. Inlay desighn.
19. God knows what else, but this is all can think of for right now.
I guess the best thing to do would be to start a thread in the Poll section, just to find out, who's interested in the first palce. This is the second time a thread like this was started concerning a group project, it would be cool to do one, but if only 10 out of the 1000+ people that hang out here are interested, well there wouldnt be much point!

Removing the Squire logo is the most important mod you can make
Other than that, I would:
Sharpen the horns
Do some clever cutting to the headstock to make it less "Fender-ish"
Put in a Hip Shot Trilogy
Carve fake F-holes that look more like flames than "F's"
Then finish it with a tribal looking translucent flame paint job to match the F-holes.
True there are alot of cheap "mod worthy" guitar available, but there are so dame many parts and trinkets for Fender type guitars.

murphy was still with them last i heard...low was a good album
OF DOG FACED GODS!!

If it was that Kench, that stole from this site, you'd have to admire his ballz / stupidity for joining this forum.
But since it's probobly not him....
welcome

Buh Rip it off this if you're in Europe.
Thats a liscened Floyd, And I've allready got the Ibanez liscend Floyd Pro (working on destroying #2). I want the real deal. The quality and the realibility is a lot more dependable.

what if somone breaks something. then we would be screwed. like breaking in shipping would be such a biatch!
Pack it properly, and of course insure it. From doing Shipping and Reciving in a warehouse for several years, FedEX does the least damage out of anyone, UPS comes in second, USPS comes in dead last!

Joe Despagni's lawyer might be interested in THIS one...

thanks!!!!!!!
Your welcome!!

Thank God, there is someone that carries Floyd (lo) Pros besides Mr. Roman
-
you know murphy is with testament now?really helped give them a boost after that electric crown debacle
I did not know that, I know he played on the Low album replacing Skolnick, but I thought it was a one time deal, and he had the brain tumor issue which put him on the shelf for a bit. Didnt really keep up with Testament after Demonics, but I'll be looking into them now!

what band did Chuck Schuldiner play for?
He didnt really play for anyone, HE WAS DEATH, and people played for him!! He had some of the best musicians, metal or other wise, that did some work in the studio (mainly drums and bass) and toured with him. Despite being labled as a GOD in the metal genre, he was a really cool person, and very down to earth. I had the pleasure of meeting him several times before his unfortunate death from brain cancer, definately a good man that was taken too soon.
-
AWESOME talent...completely changed the face of death metal with "human"
Yes indeed!!!
I have the same mentality as AlexVDL when it comes to discussions / arguments as to who is better or best. But when it comes to skill, Schuldiner is allways overlooked.
If you look at his writing style and what the man does on the guitar, both with rythems and leads, while doing vocals to boot, he kicks a lot of peoples ass in a serious way!
James Murphey is another Death Metal guitarist with amazing skill

Well snork, since your doing an Ibanez type thing,... I think. Ibanez fret boards, are 1/4" of an inch at their thickest spot, with roughly a 16 inch fretboard radius.
Other brands are probobly around the same (thickness). So make sure your board is no thinner than 1/4" (6.35 mm for you Mike) I'm doing a fretboard install on an RG470XL, so I did plenty of measuring and such.
-
I voted for Chuck Schuldiner,.....RIP

if youd like to save time and effoert, Some one is selling a child sized guitar here
