    I'm just starting out,but I think you should learn how to build necks first.It's not that hard.I just have handsaws,a router and assorted cheap hand tools.NO plane. A lot o sandin.Buy a slotted board

    I don't know 1/10 of what these guys know,but I put jumbo wire on my guitar and didn't change anything else and the sustain was a lot better.Much better. Would a thicker or heavier headstock help sustain?

    Iwas going to stain my neck and I wasn't sure if I stain it before I attatch my fretboard.Also,can I spray nitro over my frets? Thanks guys

    Can you buy white grain filler?Or can you dye it white? I was thinking of filling the grain and then going blue over top.Is that an idea or foolishness? It's Mahogany

    If I wanted the grain to stand out wouldn't I use Black filler?

    Do you always use grain filler or is that only for an opaque finish. Would I use clear?

    I am using a Stew Mac Slotted fingerboard.Is that going to be enough clearance over the body to the bridge?Do i have to Make my own fingerboard thicker?

    I've only ever built two replacement bolt-on necks for my guitar. My problem is the part on the neck that will join the upper horn of the body. Is my Neck piece supposed to be cut the whole way with the neck profile or is it suppposed to be square after the last fret? If you know what i'm TRYING to say......... Thanks guys

    Yeah,I didn't know if I cut the channel from the nut all the way to the heel end

    First.It is my first full attempt to making a new neck. I have a hot rod 18 inch rod.Am I supposed to cut a slot from one end straight through to the other.Basically,a slot all the way down the neck. I read the Stew mac help and it does.i'm a rookie who like step by step.duh,uh. Please and thanks folks
