asm
depends. to calculate board feet: (Thickness x Width x Length) / 144 im ordering a 2"x8"x20" size for my top and bottom. and bookmatching. so 1" top and body. neck is dependant on if you want to use a scarf joint or a solid block angle carve. if your using expensive woods (rosewoods or figured woods) you can pretty much kiss thats block idea out of the budget. i dont know the length of the neck thru, or what headstock or scale length your doing. but 3"x3"x XXX" would be ok i think. Devon Headen
If you're buying from a lumber yard expect to buy more than you need. If you only need enough wood for a neck, you're wtill probably gonna buy the whole board.

asm
alot of places that sell alot of wood either have a minimum, or wont cut a piece your size, you have to buy the whole board. or both. usually both
