ruinerr Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 I am planning and researching my first guitar. For the first one im going to buy parts from warmoth, customise finish etc, whatever i want to do. Can inlays be done with frets already installed. Also for inlay work, what tools are needed. Quote
LGM Guitars Posted September 12, 2004 Report Posted September 12, 2004 This has been discussed on here many times so do a search for in depth answers to inlaying with frets and what tools to use. The short answer to can inlay be done with frets in is: Yes, it can, but not easily and not well. It will take you longer to level and polish an inlay with frets in than it will to remove the frets and refret afterwards and you'll still only end up with a halfassed job. Quote
Clavin Posted September 13, 2004 Report Posted September 13, 2004 Agreed. Frets must come out for a professional job. Go to the tutorials section and start there. There is a lot to begin with! Craig L. Quote
