MurphC Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 This project is in the near future, but I am going to build a 5-string fretless (possibly headless) bass. I just got a neat idea to put strips of pearl inlay where the frets would normally be- this way it would be easier for a fretted player to pick up on it. Still dont know about shape or pickups, or even wood though. Quote
skibum5545 Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 Lined fretless basses are relatively common. However, strips of pearl would look mucho classy. On my upcoming bass, I have a flamed maple 'board, and I'll probably fill it with pau ferro to match the neck laminates. However, abalone would look -very- cool... This idea has possibilites! Good call! Quote
