Slabbefusk
Okay, i have a question, does classic guitars with nylon strings use a truss rod in the neck? or some other reinforcement? Because i thought about building a kind of hollowbody guitar with a piezo pickup as my first project.
unclej
typically classical guitars do not use truss rods although i just did a setup on a great little fender classical that did have one.
Slabbefusk
So i could build myself a Maple neck for a nylon stringed guitar without having to worry about it breaking? Ill take the measurements from a Yamaha CG-101 Classical Guitar but with my own twist .
unclej
i don't know of any reason why you couldn't. you'd want to make sure that the maple was completely cured and wasn't going to do any warping or twisting but it should work just fine. good luck with the project! Jon Bell
I had an old classical that I (rather stupidly) put steel strings onto. It bent the neck excessively and started to lift the bridge. So if you don't use a truss rod don't be tempted to try steel strings on it!
