thrashncrust Posted December 1, 2004 Report Share Posted December 1, 2004 im having trouble with my renown once again, now that im in a band, i have to turn up my amp, when i have it on anything above 2, the sound dies out, all the notes die, they are real weak, it sounds like im palm muting them when im shredding, when i hit chords, the hum goes away and fades back in, what is wrong with my amp? i will try to get soundclips up Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'm no expert on SS amps, but my guess is that it's a bad power transistor that is cutting out when it gets hot. If the heat sink on it/them has come loose, then it may be overheating.
