erikbojerik
Why is it that people are often reluctant, or even refuse, to give the serial number for a guitar in their auction? Is this an indication that the guitar in question might be a stolen item?
Southpa
Thats one reason. But moreso because the registered serial number can be copied and a counterfeit guitar can be modified/built and sold for big bucks with that description AND serial numer. Unless they know what to look for in a vintage guitar, a lot of people are suckered in by these fakes. On the extreme side, how would you feel if you bought a supposed 50's vintage strat with matching numbers and then see a swimming pool rout job under the pickguard? OUCH! Devon Headen
if you're asking and they won't tell you, I wouldn't buy it. If they don't want to give it, that means they have a reason. It's probably either hot or fake.
