allstellar Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Could one Glue a saga ht-10 neck on making it a set-neck guitar? is it feasable? Quote
thedoctor Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 (edited) Sure, but do a test assemble and setup first to make sure the pocket doesn't need a little tweaking. You have to do something with the 5 holes in the back if you glue it on so you might consider putting a couple dowels in for added strength. Use the screws and plate to hold it together while glueing and pitch em when you are done. It won't help that awful neckheel much. Or that graceful, flowing neck-to-body joint. Would look better than that plate, IMHO. Edited April 21, 2005 by thedoctor Quote

thedoctor Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Yeah, SAGA slobbers a bunch of finish in the pocket so you would be best off scraping it to bare wood with a good chisel or rasp before you do the first assembly. Drill all 5 holes out to 3/8" and dowel them if you are nervous about this. You have to fill those holes with something anyhow. Ya know, that one hole in the center is probly already over 3/8". Forget it and do the other four. Then you will have to clamp the neck instead of using the plate unless you want to put the dowels in after the glue is dry. That could work. Quote

javacody Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Drill the dowel holes into your neck and have the dowels connecting neck and body. That would be pretty cool. I've also thought about sinking the screws and putting caps over them. Quote
