Snakeskin Finish

Recommended Posts

The best snakeskins I've seen were done by Jim O'Connor, who did the fabulous work for Hamer, Jackson, etc. The snakeskin pattern was airbrushed in several layers, but essentially, the base coat was a black or dark brown and then that green rubber bar webbing was stretched over the body and then lighter colors were airbrushed on - first, an off-white or pearly cream color, then various brown "diamondback" patterns were sprayed on, with black patterns being added last.

I think you can still find some of his work online if you do a search for his work. I'll see if I can find a link and will post it. His stuff was much more intricate than the current Jackson or GMW patterns I've seen, and the Snakeskin Graphic HAMER I owned looked fantastic!
