sgnt.pepper Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 (edited) Hi, I opened up an old strat copy and noticed I had a cap on both tone pots. All the schematics I searched on this forum only show a cap on one pot. What should I do? Am I correct when saying: A) Tone pots and volume pots are the same hardware What makes them different is when you solder the cap on the pot, it turns it into a tone pot Thanks! I assume on your copy, they used a separate one for each tone pot. It really doesn't matter which way it is done (as long as spending 50 cents on a capacitor is not a big deal ). Quote
Opencan Posted February 15, 2006 Report Posted February 15, 2006 aside that, using two capacitors let you define the tone range for each tone potentionmetter. its a quite common mod for strats. Quote
