brewu22
I hope I am posting this in the right place. I bought a .5 inch thick bookmatched tiger maple top. Both the boards looked nice. One day later, one of the boards twisted and warped, the other is still fine. Is there anything I can do to fix warped board?
Mattia
Sounds like the outside slice was case hardened. You can try moisture, heat, and pressing it flat. Wood does that sometimes.
fryovanni
If the wood was fairly dry to begin with. You should be able to spritz a bit of water on the side that is curling, and stick it on a flat surface under weight for a bit. After it settles back and moisture equalizes a bit. Stick strips of wood between the boards and surounding surfaces(so it can breath). Place weight back on it and let it aclimate for a week or two. Be sure not to soak the board, just a light spray to even its moisture. If the wood was cut wet and it is still going through its drying process it may not get back where it should be. In that case you would need heat, and that means close to 250-300 deg.(not easy to do evenly with thicker wood). Heat blankets may be an option. Try the re-acclimation first( hopefully that solves the problem). Peace,Rich
