Help Wood Measurments?

Recommended Posts

For the neck if i had one peice of wood that was:

48" long

0.5" thick

5" wide

And another peice of wood that was:

48" long

0.5" thick

5" wide

And yet another peice of wood that was:

48" long

1" thick

2.5" wide

I think that would give me something like this

wood (not glued)

Wood Glued

I think im starting to understand this abit

So would those neck measurments work???

You have the idea. You should think about how you want the laminates to look at the string nut area. Your darker laminates will be the sides of the neck at that point because of how wide they are spaced. I generally try to keep my inner laminates spaced a bit closer. Just think of the taper of the neck and remember you will taper to less than 2" at the nut. There is also the option of tapering the laminates (Russ made a nice tutorial on how to do this).

Peace,Rich

It may not be a big deal to most of us, but some people still on dialup and the bigger the pic, the longer the load. A larger footprint could also mean having to scroll not only up and down, but side to side, and that's a pain in the tooshy. :D

I give.

I honestly hope you draw this up, or buy the wood oversized. Here are a couple links to Bass fretboard blanks sold by stewart macdonald (since you don't seem to buy into my fretboard length requirements).

Unslotted Blanks (slightly oversized)

Pre-slotted and radiused

While your on Stew's site take a peek at their free info-Info

Good Luck,

Rich
