I don't think the graver's from stewmac come with any lift in the tip... so I think that's why it's digging so much in the recon. However, just having gotten it and not knowing much about gravers I'm too afraid to try to add the lift myself for fear of doing it wrong, or putting too much lift and just ruining it. Also, I've found that you can't push as hard with recon in my opinion. It's easier for me if I reduce the angle between the graver and the stone to as little as possible, and do numerous really shallow passes to get to the depth I want. The small angle makes it not chip out, but also makes a really shallow cut... hence the need for numerous passes. Chris Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
