themetalhankey
Ok it is going to be similar to a wizard 2 neck. Maple, Mahogany, Maple, Mahogany, Maple. the neck at the neck join is 5.5 cm, so I am guessing the mahogany inserts should be .5 cm each? that'll add up to 1 cm, then the 3 maple pieces will be 1.5 cm each. Is anyone thinking thats good? I need opinions, thanks Edit. the mahogany inserts will be 1 cm now. | 1 cm maple | 1 cm mah. | 1.5 cm maple | 1 cm mah. | 1 cm maple | Edited October 27, 2006 by themetalhankey

themetalhankey
hmm i need some peoples help for the width at the nut, im guessing maybe 45mm-ish since the width at the neck join is 55mm
Rista
Isn't 45mm a little too wide? AFAIK, the nut width is usually 42-43mm.
TimS
The Wizard 2 is 43mm at the nut, 56mm at the 22nd fret. 19mm thick at the 1st fret, 21mm thick at the 12th fret. Follow the link for dimensions on all of Ibanez's necks. http://www.jemsite.com/jem/necks.htm Edited October 27, 2006 by TimS

fryovanni
Something more like 19mm/6mm/10mm/6mm/19mm would give a good look at the nut. I try to keep my center strip at least as wide as the truss rod, and have a fair amount of outer lam material at each side when the neck is at the nut. The layout I mentioned above would give you a 10mm/6mm/10mm/6mm/10mm at the nut. That would look pretty well balanced. Generally I try to keep my accent lines between .04" and .25"(1-6mm-ish). Finer lines look classy. A five piece layup can look nice w/ bolder 1/4"(6mm-ish) lams. That is really just my opinions, for what it is worth. Good luck!! Peace,Rich
