cole Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 I've read threads on curing nitro with UV light. One of the biggest problems was that it would cure the top layer but not the other layers. Would it work to cure each layer, maybe even just a little to keep it from totaly uncuring under the final coat. what your thought. Quote
AlGeeEater Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 You can only cure Nitrocellulose lacquer with a UV setup if the Nitrocellulose is UV curable. You can, however, cure nitro with Infrared Heat (using a heat lamp) like I do. Do a search for 'Infrared' here in the finishing section, there's a couple of really good threads with loads of info for you. Chris Quote
marksound Posted November 16, 2006 Report Posted November 16, 2006 Also, if you use UV on nitro it will yellow unless it has UV inhibitors. There are people who put a newly cleared (and cured) guitar in a tanning bed to age the finish. Quote
