ibanez13
Am I looking for something special, or would a DPDT push/pull pot let me have a normal pot, but with the ability to pull it up to turn something on and push to down to turn it off? Do I need a special kind of push/pull pot to do that?
mammoth guitars
A push/pull pot with DPDT switch is just that, use it for a volume/tone whatever and the switch can be used again for whatever. Just make sure the resistance of the pot works for what you intend ie 250k, 500k or in the case of some preamps 25k.
ibanez13
I thought a push/pull pot with DPDT switch was like two pots in one, so you could use it as a volume pot and then pull it up and use it as a tone pot. I need a pot that is a tone pot whether it's down or up, but if it's up, it connects two wires together to complete a circuit.
Desopolis
no DPDT stands for double poll double throw. There are two sets of leads(6 total connectors, with 2 seperate circut switches) and the switch can only be in Pos 1 or Pos2. to make a off switch you'd simply let the hot connector simply not on the other end, or connect to ground so you dont get the fuz. he means with the pot thats attached to the switch, it sounds like your doing somthing with a active setup..
