Glow In The Dark Powders

Hi all. Im a bit new to the forums and to finishing guitars. I have however buidt and researched building things for other projects that im doing outside of guitars for awhile now and I didnt know if anyone else had heard of glow powders.

In a nutshell these are differently colored powders you can mix into your lacquers and finishes to give whatever youve painted the ability to glow in the dark. They run about $7 an ounce but they recharge in the light and last for roughly ten years with about 5%degradation in glow after that.

The possibilities are nice. For example, say you had a dark purple paint job and you grabbed some lacquer. You could then pick up some purple metal fleck to mix into your lacquer AND some purple glow powder (just a couple ounces...not much) mix it all together and lacquer your guitar giving it a highly polished surface that sparkles millions of light points from within.

If your worried you can order a 1/4 ounce of powder for near $2 to experiment with on wood with a little fleck and lacquer. Either way the thing would still glow guaranteed.

Another idea is mount hollowflash foil to your body and then do the whole tutorial of paint and smear off paint before lacquering to draw holographic shiny effects. Now adda a finish that has glow powder to THAT.

Heres a link for those looking for new things to play with. Lemme know what all you come up with because Im eager to play with these things too and ideas are always welcome.
