Wiring Question

I purchased a gutted Washburn xb-500 with active washburn 673 & 671 pickups. I got it with no pots or battery connections. Actually all it has is the wires coming from the pickups. Anyway, everything I know about wiring suggests that there should be more than just the shielding and white wire inside the shielding coming out of the pickups. I just can't figure out how this gets wired up. Is the shielding considered a wire that gets connected to the lug while the white inner wire goes to the battery connection, or is there another configuration these particular pickups require. Please let me know, I'm desperate for an answer.
