billsterl Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 Hi-I want to make a long compass to draw arcs ot make contour discs. But I don't remember the formula. I took geometry 40 years ago maybe thats why I can't remember. Thanks in advance. Quote
dave293 Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 I don't know any formula, but on the MIMF library there is a PDF with 15', 18' and 25' radiuses, for this purpose. Quote
GoodWood Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 I don't know any formula, but on the MIMF library there is a PDF with 15', 18' and 25' radiuses, for this purpose. You can measure the depth if you know it, and bend a strait steel rod X distance to get the radius, like 1/8 inch or so. There was s site that listed the measurement for a 25 radius dish. google it. There should be a site with this info. Quote
Mattia Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 Google Radius Workboard Long Compass, should find John Sevy's site, has the math. The MIMF library also has a spreadsheet to calculate whatever you need/want in terms of arcs. Quote
