bluesy
I need to make the fret bevelling tool described here http://www.projectguitar.com/tut/beveltool.htm What is the best way to cut the end off the file as in the first step. It looks like they used a dremel tool in that photo. I am surprised that that would work. What type of cutting bit was used?
borge
I used an angle grinder with a standard metal cutting disc, bit quicker than a dremel I'd say.

Yep, I guess that's what I'll do too, thanks I clamped the part of the file I wanted to keep in a bench vise and smacked it with a hammer. Nice and clean! Guest RavenT
A bench grinder works well and it is also safer then hand held tools to cut the tang off. Once you get close to the end cut the tang may fly from the tools kickback and injury some one passing by or your self. Shop safety is important to keep in mind. You start the job with ten fingers and you want to finish the job with your ten fingers since you are guitarist the fingers can get cut off fast in a shop, So get a good list of shop safety so you can enjoy many more years of playing guitar.
