Duck Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Hey below is the url for a Paul Reed smith. I am getting close to the point where I am going to stain a guitar I built. I want to try to mimic that color and was woundering if anyone could help me to get the color. and what type of stain to use. I dont want to use to much finish because I want to get as much resonence out of this guitar as possible, I have a friend who can spray so thats not a problem but if there is anyone out there who can tell me what colors and what brands and which type of dyes and stains to use, and even what you guys think is the best way to do it that would be great. Thanks alot prs guitar Quote
guitar_ed Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Hey Duck, One comment: The wood that you use will have an impact on how the dye job turns out. As will the specific dyes you use. One thing that I would recommend getting is something called a color wheel. It will give you an idea on how to mix the dyes to get the color you want. The second this is: Practice on scrap wood. That is mandatory. Last: Guitar Ed Advice worth what you paid for it. Nothing. Quote
