I love the way that blue stain looks like and i thought i'd like to give it a try on my guitar. Would chemicals be the fastest way to remove the paint and what kind of stain should i get? It may very well be that you find a very bland looking wood after removing the finish. And if you are really unlucky you'll find a mess of filler, etc. I would not do that! GuitarMaestro Posted April 3, 2004 Report Share Posted April 3, 2004 It's not too soft at all. Ibanez uses Basswood for nearly all their guitars. It's just softer than other hardwoods. Devon Headen Posted April 3, 2004 Report Share Posted April 3, 2004 I'm gonna do a blue tint lacquer with black burst on my squier. It's gonna be really dark though, and it has really cool burn marks from the heat gun paint removal. Devon Headen Posted April 3, 2004 Report Share Posted April 3, 2004 well...I have a couple, but I'm gonna be awhile before I start finishing it...the pics really don't show the burn very well....the burns don't contrast as much as they look like they do in the pics.
